Eagle Vision s new SD Blu-ray range presents upscaled standard definition original material with uncompressed stereo and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound for the best possible quality. Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb were performing together from childhood but it was in Australia in 1960 that they were first billed as the Bee Gees. The band went on to become one of the most successful performing, recording and songwriting acts of all time. This full length concert was shot at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on 14 November 1997 and is one of very few Bee Gees performances ever filmed. Now for the first time it has been fully restored with remastered sound and will be released on a Blu-ray disc as the first of Eagle Vision s new SD Blu-ray range. Blu Ray SD upscale edition - There has been a few comments about why this show has been released on Blu Ray in an 'SD upscale' rather than the normal hi-definition we all come to expect and I spent a little time trying to find out if the show was actually filmed (on film stock) as opposed to video. Couldn't find anything definitive and an email to Eagle Rock was unanswered. They do actually state the show was 'filmed' but, of course, this can be used a generic term rather than indicating film cameras were used. In any event we have what we have and upon viewing I am more than happy with the results. On a very large plasma the close up shots look very good and it is only when long crowd or group shots are used the fact you are watching an standard definition release is apparent. The colours are nothing special but, considering the SD source, we have the best we are going to get (the credits mention video operatives etc., too). Sound on the other hand is superb with a DTS HD audio surround track and it sounds fantastic. As for the show itself I can't think of a better liver performance from the band that is available. They have a set that covers so many hits it spans 2 hours 20 minutes with all of the hits I can think of. Some special guests too! A few extras (alternative songs from different shows and an interview) and this ends up as an excellent release and one that will be played a lot! For fans and those with just a casual interest in the Bee Gees this is highly recommended. Update: I have compared the Blu Ray to the Region 1 (USA) DVD version I own and the picture quality offers marginal improvements - you have to look hard to find any! If anything you can tell there has been some effort to boost sharpness as you can see the edge enhancement on occasion - like a halo effect - on things like microphone stands. Essentially though both DVD and Blu Ray are fine but you need to consider that this is a standard definition source - you will not see the usual HD improvement from Blu Ray. The sound is also fine on the DVD with a DD 5.1 mix but has a bit more punch through the lossless audio track. No extras on the DVD unlike the Blu Ray. For me though one of the huge benefits is the pop up menu on the BR which is great considering how many tracks there are on the disc - with BR you can find the track easily and go straight there, much harder on DVD. Considering the low price I still feel the BR is a good upgrade. Update 2: The extras contain a few tracks that seem to have been recorded from one of those ITV shows 'An Audience with' - half of the cast of Eastenders are the 'celebs' visible! Review: Fantastic - It is great if you like the BeeGees

BeeGees
A fabulous concert! This is a DVD you will return to time after time. recorded when all three BeeGees were alive and well and in top form performing at the peak of their powers ! They sing all their hits and a few of their later catalogue such as "One" which sound as good as anything else on this excellent DVD If you like the BeeGees and their music this is a "must have" for your collection! The BeeGees always managed to sound as good live as on their actual recordings! [A fact that few other performers can live up to in my experience!] Strongly recommended! Something you will enjoy for years to come! A real bargain when you consider the number of songs and the length of the concert! Top notch stuff!

One Night Only
I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable DVD. The Bee Gees as always were on top form and were very entertaining and humerous. The choice of songs were perfect for this show and the guest star was an added bonus, Celine Dion has a lovely voice. The lighting was good and the close ups very clear, all in all a fantastic 143 minutes of entertainment.

Good dvd but misleading track list
The sound quality on this dvd is excellent, as is the picture quality. I bought the dvd as it seemed to have practically all their hits included, however I was slightly disappointed that you do not get the full version of all the songs as a large portion of them are actually sung as a harmonic medley by the trio. That aside, it is still a worthwhile dvd to have.

One Night Only Anniversay Edition
I do not normally like live performances as I feel that the artist(s) always seem to add on extra twiddley bits which makes the song sound nothing like the recording studio version which originally made them popular. I have to say that this DVD is absolutely fantastic. All of the songs are sung exactly as they were in the recorded versions, It was wonderful to see the brothers Gibb performing together, the respect that each showed to the other when singing a solo made me feel quite emotional, they clearly loved their work. My only sadness was the fact that two of these wonderful artists are no longer with us and I feel that I did not fully appreciate their superb talent during their lifetimes

Fan, was willst Du mehr?!
