Great that this product is available on Amazon
Great that this product is available on Amazon. I have a 12 year old Beagle who has been diagnosed with early stage Liver disease and basically the Vet was only interested in getting me to pay for expensive prescription diet food and that was it. That was six months ago and using this product, I think, has helped her health improve so much. In conjunction with using this product she also has a home cooked white rice/turkey/fish/cottage cheese and kibble diet with added soluble and insoluble fibre which the powder can be easily mixed into without her knowing. Her tummy upsets have gone, her appetite has improved greatly and she has started being mischievous again which is always a good sign. She generally seems much better in herself and is once more taking an active part in everything.

Its natural and Safe.
I give it to our dog as it improves her liver function after a poisoning incidence.she has been on the powder for many years,as it is a natural product it has no side effects that could harm her. Combine it with a good quality dry feed, and after less than 7 days you can see the difference in your dog.

Amazing stuff
Decided to try the milk thistle after spending a fortune of money on medication and having diagnostic tests done on my little sick dog and not finding the cause of his liver problem. I am delighted to say that after 2 months on this, along with a hepatic food and daily dose of lactulose his bile acid level has reduced from a dangerously high level of 110 to 27. Our vet is quite amazed at his improvement. When I initially questioned her about using milk thistle she shrugged her shoulders and said her background is medicine but there was no harm in giving it a try. I am convinced that if we hadn't tried it he wouldn't be here now because with conventional medication he was getting worse. If you have a pet with liver problems then try this. I can't recommend it highly enough!

How do I know if it's working...
I don't know how I can seriously review this product because it's next to impossible to know if it's working - I only know that my sick little dog needs extra support for his liver after a recent bout of hepatitis/pancreatitis. He was at the vets for four days, seriously ill and the vet thought it would be a good idea to give his liver some extra support - of course, suggesting I bought a really rather expensive supplement from them - as they do! I declined the offer - after all, the vet bill ran into the hundreds, without them hooking me in to monthly payments for even more expensive treatments! After reading all the positive reviews from other Amazon customers I decided to give this a try but apart from noticing him drinking and peeing a lot more, I don't know (without getting blood tests done) if this is having a positive effect on his liver. I've given it four stars though because, although I can't be sure about its effects, if he does have to have a liver supplement for the rest of his life this is, at least, affordable. His urine was very orange after his illness and seemed to stay the same after he was completely well again but as soon as I gave this supplement for the first time, it was back to normal colour the next day, so it obviously works fast. There is a tiny little scoop in the tub, which you'll probably have to fish for (I poked around with a skewer for ages until I finally unearthed it) but it's really tiny and, if you have a small dog as I do, you will find it difficult to give just half a scoop from this miniscule measure! Not that I'm complaining - there's loads of product in the tub and, at half a scoop per day, this is literally going to last months. If your pet is currently undergoing treatment for liver disorders, your vet will probably be able to tell you if there have been positive changes in his condition but as my dog is now, to all intents and purposes, cured of his illness, he isn't actually undergoing treatment or being subjected to regular blood tests so I am just giving him this in the hope that his liver problems don't re-occur. He had a bout of pancreatitis three years ago, that's what's making me think he's prone to it and I'm giving him this supplement in the hope of preventing further problems.

Great for when your cat won't take pills
I use this in combination with milk thistle tablets. It's great for liver issues, and my rescue cat went from very serious liver and kidney issues (cause unknown) to all labs within normal limits with this and a few other things, including probiotics. I bought this specifically for when I'm traveling since pilling the cat is not something our cat sitter can manage, but I've started using it almost daily. It seems to be tasteless, or at least my cat never refuses food when it's included. One container has lasted almost a year at half a scoop/day. I've already re-purchased.
