Biltong Stokkies Original Bites 500g – Beef Biltong by The Biltong Company – High in Protein & Keto Diet-Approved – Lean Biltong Stokkies, Spiced Meat Snack Like Jerky

Put these out as part of a family ‘bubble’ do. Only 5 of us. All gone in 30 minutes. My 98 year old mother moaned most asshe devoured them saying they hadn’t the texture of the pork scratchings in 1954. I had no reply as she was a butcher’s wife, I did not discuss the relative merits nor dared to explain the species differences. She loved them. Had to reorder enough said.

It was horrible. It was so dry it was like the bag had been left open for days. Not much flavour either and hardly any large pieces, just small straggly bits that you couldn’t actually chew. (These were thrown in the bin) I was so upset as it was part of a Father’s Day present for my husband and assumed the biltong company would be sending out quality stuff, but I was utterly disappointed and felt I wasted my money. It’s nothing like the traditional stuff I usually buy.

Nice flavour of biltong, salty and good quality, no fat. A little dry.

So taste in Biltong is a very personal thing. Most of my family and mates like it 'wet & fatty'. I on the other hand like it dry and less fatty. This biltong ticks all the boxes for me. The only slight change I would make would be to add a touch more vinegar, and maybe a smidge more black pepper. It is however one of the best available (for me), and these guys are on the ball - delivery is quick. Will keep buying when cash is spare. Happy customer.

Received my "Billtong Bites" today and at first I thought I had bought doggie treat chews instead of "Billtong" they are so dry and hard that trying to chew them is a danger to your teeth and impossible if you have dentures... I am fully aware that part of the Billtong preservation method involves some drying (Like Jerky) but usually the meat is dried to roughly 50-60% weight loss but this must be up there at around 75% weight loss making it really tough and stringy... They have also left what seems to be sinewy connective tissue in some of the pieces making the eating experience equivalent to chewing a piece of string... If this is a bad batch that accidenmtally got too dehydrated then I am sorry to the manufacturers but if this is the typical "Billtong" they sell then I will not buy any more and they owe the cost of a trip to my dentist to repair the damage their "Billtong Bites" did to my teeth...

This biltong is adequate at best. Both packs I received were too dry- while biltong has been dried as part of the curing process, it's meant to be chewy and with a tender core. This biltong is dry the whole way through, and will flake off and splinter as you try to chew it. Moreover, the taste is unnatural- I believe because it's been soaked in too much Worcestershire sauce. In the fatty parts this is especially evident: while biltong fat is usually a succulent savoury taste that melts in your mouth, the fat of these sticks has an odd, bittersweet taste, far too similar to Worcestershire sauce. I can't really recommend it when better biltong is available for a similar (if not cheaper) price.

I cant stop eating this biltong! It’s so addictive and delicious. Well worth every penny and i got my husband and mum hooked on it too. Oops

These biltong Bites, are awesome. Perfect protein snack during the day, or to pack in the kids or partners lunch boxes.
