This was surprisingly inexpensive for what has turned out to be an excellent piece of kit. It works just as it should, and is accurate and easy to work with. Even the router bit is included, and stores on the template itself. I’ve since hung lots of doors using this template and I’m very happy with the purchase.

while remodeling a house, i needed to mortise 6 interior doors. i was thinking about using a chisel or free-handing it with a laminate trimmer. i saw this jig on amazon and figured it would be worth the price to get it and ensure the 6 doors were done right. glad i did...thius jig is very easy to use and even came with the router bit and self centering drill bit. i usually set the hinge in the mortise and eyeball the drillbit in the center of the screw hole. most times the hole is off a bit and when all 3 holes are all off in different directions, the hinge install can end up with screw heads not sinking properly and sticking up or being angled. this jig did an excellent job of making the mortise and the included centering bit made the holes perfectly in the center of the hing screw holes. definitely worth the money

This is nice and works pretty well, but... The small plastic piece that defines the width of the hinge does not stay in place. It kept lifting up and messed up the routing that I was doing. It kept leaving a high point that I had to fix. The concept is good, but the execution is not great.

Such a simple item, that makes the job so much easier. This isn't high end, however it works just as well. We are DIYers and my husband found using this to be very simple. Great value that a great price.

Second one I bought for an additional back up kit, this works great for routing hinges perfectly. Alignment is flawless. Fits great.

Door hinge jig works great....last job I had to mortise 22 doors...much easier to use with a palm sized router vs the full size ones...comes with the router bit as well

This hinge routing kit was a bit of a disappointment, but it was helpful in recutting the mortise to install new, thicker hinges on a door. In my case I was rehanging a heavy wood door 1.75" thick with 4x4" hinges with 1/4" radius. The router bit that comes with the kit naturally makes a cut with that radius. The depth adjustment suggested that one use the shallower setting for a 4" hinge but my heavy duty hinges needed that extra depth of cut. The plastic body of this jig did not clamp onto the door very well. It would tend to splay out and one side would come up so the jig was not laying flat on the edge of the door. One needs to watch this and take steps if necessary to correct it as otherwise the depth would be uneven. Being inexperienced at door hanging, I started routing the door as soon as I got the depth setting correct and the template flat to the door. This turned out to be a mistake. The template defined a wider cut than the hinge. In other words, the edge with the rounded corners was cut 1/4" or so past the edge of the hinge. I don't see an adjustment for this, so I am guessing that this template is designed for a thinner door or a different hinge. I will have to patch my door with wood putty, and remind myself in the future to double check everything before cutting.

Excellent tool for routing door hinges. Made quick, efficient, easy and nice looking hinge mounting locations on the door. I really liked the additional self centering guided drill bit for pre-drilling the pilot holes for the hinge screws. Easy to use, 100% accurate!

Worked like a charm, very easy to setup and use.

Great product for my needs. Doing a Condo Reno and replacing doors. Bought slabs and replacing all hinges and hardware. For a half dozen doors the product works fine. Makes sure your router is flush. And careful when removing the router I nicked the plastic body a little (user error) so for my Reno needs it was fast and cheap option that came with bits. Was very “Pluge & Play”. Is this contractor grade? He’ll No! This is for the average handy persons making some home upgrades. And for the price it’s fair value and saves a lot of time compared to old fashioned hand and chisel.

Hinge jig was ok. Would not last long with lots of use.

It was my first time using a jig like this. I think the next time I'll buy a metal one. I kind of destroyed it with the router

Useless for routing of an existing door jam. However works ok on door edges. However, first, try out on some scrap wood to confirm depth of your cut.
