The Holy Qur'an: Arabic Text with English Translation

It is imperative that the original Arabic version is read and understood as that is the true word of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him). It is recognised by many that Abdullah Yusuf Ali's English translation is regarded as one of the most accurate that is available. I have read review comments that argue as to why it is necessary to understand the original. The simple answer to all who beg this rather naive question is that an EXACT translation of the text that was originally transcribed from the revelation received by the Prophet (Peace be upon him) is not possible. A direct translation from Arabic to English may not necessarily be 100% accurate. Thus, misinterpretation is likely. To prove this, just compare a few different translations. Some are worse than others but none can be perfect. This copy just purchased was bought to replace one accidentally left on a train. I hope that the finder of the lost copy is enlightened by its content. However, the paper and binding quality of this copy is not as good as the lost copy.

The book cover and paper quality are a little disappointing but they do say you should never judge a book by its cover! As a Christian, with respect for the beliefs of others, I bought this book partly out of curiousity; but also to find out more about Islam. My contact with devout Muslims in the past has always impressed me and has impressed on me the importance of Faith in our every-day lives. While I would have to leave the veracity of the translation to others, more qualified than myself, I find that the poetic nature (which I am informed is inherent in the Arabic) can be seen in the words of the translation. I find the text quite uplifting and the wisdom in the words illuminating. There are concepts I struggle with; which time, further reading and help from others, will help. I find much in common with my own Faith but then we must all find our own way to the Truth; respect those who already have and pity those who cannot!

It is simply one of the best translation in English, very useful and hard cover too, I actually bought for friend of mine as hi is willing to read as he is not yet muslim, hopefully he will be convinced and guided to straight path by GOD InshAllah that this is a 100% book of Almighty.I will recommend to anyone to buy this copy either for your one use or gift to somebody who is not yet muslim...

I haven't had a chance to read this book, and it may take a while till I do, however I must respond to the last review by: Mr. Francis A. King. (perhaps he just got a bad copy) and I wouldn't want anyone to be put off buying. The actual quality of this book seems no less than any of many hardback books I have bought recently. I am very happy with it, and I can find no fault on the printing on the cover/spine. The Arabic is indeed smaller and takes up less space than the English, and perhaps it is not easy too read. I don't read Arabic, but its interesting to have it for comparison. So without being able to comment on the actual content, It is a good quality book, that I am very happy to have on my bookshelf.

My mums husband was using his late dads one. So I decided to get him this. He was totally blown away by the present and totally loves it. Thank you.

False advertising, absolutely nothing holy about this book!

I expected the book to be better with respect to paper quality, typing, Arabic text phont size and selecting colored phont.

La traduzione in se non è male, mancano note esplicative per chi si avvicina al Corano senza precedenti studi e la stampa in lingua araba non è leggibile. La qualità non è delle migliori…
