4" As a electrician, I have bought many feit recess trims and have only ever had 1 or 2 go out in the 1000s that i have purchased for jobs. Lights are bright and easy to work in in the app. It works well with Alexa. Value for the money is great. Change from any color spectrum. The quality has always been great. The dimmer is very smooth

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Very temperamental with connectivity.

Horrible! Keeps losing connection and strobing. Have spent thousands of dollars on new ORBI mesh system with extra satellites. Nothing helps. Will work fine then go offline. Wish I had just settled for old fashioned light with a simple on off switch. Smart lights are dumb.

Need hood WiFi signal

I was really hopeful about these lights. Not only were they priced well, they came from a brand that I had a degree of trust for. Feit is the brand that has been subsidized by a few of the electrical providers that I have been serviced by over the years, and I never had any complaints about their plain-old energy efficient LED bulbs.Overall, the build quality is good. The junction box is sturdy and all of the wiring seemed solid. Another nice thing is that they use those handy push connectors instead of wire nuts. All you need to do is strip off ~ .5" of the sheathing and the connection can be simply made. You'll need to provide your own strain relief, and rather than buying those bulky metal ones you can just order some 3/8 in. (1/2 in. KO) Non-Metallic (NM) Push-In Connectors (from Halex or the like).The problems come if you have any desire to use the smart features. Whatever wireless chipset they use in these is absolute crap. I'm pretty experienced in home and small business networking concepts, and these things are just horribly unstable. I even have a dedicated 2.4 Ghz wireless network for my IOT devices running on some high-end networking equipment, not cheap ISP provided junk. Getting these paired was a Herculean effort, but I was finally able to do so once I removed one of them from the equation and replaced it with a unit from a second set that I had bought before I realized these didn't work well. From there, well, it just got worse. They show as connected and paired in the app, but half of the time they won't respond at all. I set them up as a group and if I try to change the color, brightness or even turn them off from the app, it is RARE that they all do what I ask.I'm also trying to return them, but 1 order is outside of the return window so I am attempting to deal with Feit Support directly. They have a useless AI chatbot and 7 days later, I still haven't heard anything from an actual human.Avoid at all costs.

Will not connect to latest Netgear security protocol. Spent 2 days on telephone with Feit customer service and escalated technicians to no avail. Finally, Feit technicians informed us that these lights will not connect to the standard security protocol in Netgear routers. Following this information from Feit engineers, we immediately removed the lights and demanded refund from Feit with an RMA. Feit has refused to refund our monies and continues to delay the process ignoring our demands. DO NOT PURCHASE!

Clips are not strong enough. Light kept falling out. Also, I had problems with connecting 2 of 4 lights rendering them useless as I couldn’t group my light to dim or change colors.I wouldn’t recommend these lights.
