An excellent paddle that toes the line of control and power
I've owned a CRBN 3X, a Double Black Diamond, this paddle in 16mm, and a couple of sub $100 paddles from when I first started.Of all of those paddles, this Vatic Pro Flash 16mm is the most balanced in terms of providing plenty of response, control, power and pop. The CRBN 3X has the most power, but is also a little more difficult to maneuver in quick volley battles. The Double Black Diamond is 100% control, in my experience, and requires you to generate all of your own power. While this Vatic Pro Flash is the exact same shape as the Double Black Diamond, it plays differently. It feels more responsive and lively, but also has a lot of control.I got rid of the Vatic when I ordered the DBD, but I actually regret doing that. I like all 3 paddles for what they are, but for my current style of play I'd probably prefer having it to the DBD given the slightly more responsive character and pop.

Great paddle
Great choice for an intermediate player. Love the grip and texture

Solid paddle. A bit too much pop for me.
Solid and good quality for the price. Groundstrokes, esp. Backhands are great with it. The spin is definitely there. It feels like 120 sandpaper and really needs erasing after each match.Feels as powerful as the $250 Selkirk Invikta paddle (and just as loud). But for my playstyle and needs as a 3.25, I need something dialed back. The power feels good, but the touch just isn't there for dinks and drops. Every ball pops up or goes 2 feet farther than if I were to use a control paddle, even after 4 hours of play, and testing with some lead weights. Probably great for plays with tiny swings or someone who needs more power, or someone who relies entirely on spin to keep shots in. I'm not at that point with dinks yet.

Can’t go wrong! 14mm & 16mm
I’ve owned both paddles and love them both! Both paddles:-very fast and good for hand battles-very good access to spin-have decent power, although not as much as an extended paddle-smaller face has a small but rewarding sweet spotThe 2 paddles are more similar than different. I don’t have any objective numbers to back this up, but here’s what I noticed:14mm - when compared to the 16mm, it has a more direct feel and instant feedback. There’s less vibration dampening and as a result you know exactly where the ball is on the paddle. This results in very good directional control, excellent spin. A little more difficult to gauge depth when you miss the sweet spot, but the sweet spot is very nice when you hit it. Best for: attacks, counters, fast dropping drives.16mm - when compared to the 14mm, it has a more dampened feel, a little more cushion and control. Slightly less power and less spin. The more dampened feel offered comfort on off center hits, but did not offer power on off center hits. Best for: dinking, resetsIf you’re coming from tennis and have experience with players rackets, I’d say if you’re used to a Wilson Pro Staff try the 14mm. If you prefer a Wilson Blade, get the 16mm. I’m guessing most people gravitate towards the 16mm but my preference has been the 14mm lately for the direct feel.I’ve experimented with some lead tape at various locations on both paddles but I’m finding it plays great in stock form with an over grip. When I keep the lead tape on, it’s 4g at the bottom of the handle to increase static weight without increasing swingweight for more of a traditional tennis racket style setup.Customer service is terrific. I had a small issue but Daryl was incredible to work with. Vatic Pro really stands by their products.

Excellent grit!
I can put some gnarly side-spin on my serves with this paddle. I've had it for almost a year and it shows no signs of slowing down. I added edge tape to keep it scuff-free and I've replaced the grip tape. It's really great quality.
