Excellent product and exceptional value for money

I would give 0 stars if I could. Ordered as a Christmas gift, so you can imagine mine and the recipients disappointment when one of the tracks didn’t work. One car just wouldn’t go, and when it did go it was jolting, inconsistent with speed and stopped every few laps. Trouble shooted everything (all track connected correctly, changed the thingy on the bottom, swapped what control was plugged into what hole, swapped the tracks each car was on.) and the issue persisted. One of the tracks just wouldn’t work as it should. The other track was fine I should mention. Ordered a replacement. Set it up, and encountered the same issues, on the same side of the track. Again, tried all the solutions I could. The replacement actually had another issue that the first one didn’t! The control won’t work at all unless you’re going full throttle, making the speed limiter completely pointless, but this just means the car goes flying off the track with every turn which defeats the object. I would NOT recommend this product. Too inconsistent in quality and very unreliable. To have two of the same with the same issues just shows how poor quality these are and how prevalent this problem must be. I would save yourself the disappointment and buy something with more reliability and quality of production. Definitely wishing I’d listened to what other reviews had said and saved myself the time and money.

Great grandson loves it

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a 5 year old. In hindsight, maybe it was a bit too advanced for a 5 year old (he finds the car flying off the track and crashing somewhere infinitely amusing). Thankfully there is a power limiter on the remotes (and it throttles the car speed) and now the cars safely stay on the track and I am not afraid he will fling a car to himself anymore (or worse, damage the car!) The build quality is pretty good and you can make/design your own tracks, it even includes a bridge. When using the bridge, the track does work but bends in a way that didn't make me feel super comfortable (and I avoid using the bridge now), plus sometimes the cars will get stuck on a raisin bend if it goes slow enough (looses contacts with the rail)

Grandson loved it

Disgusting product. Never works no matter how much you fiddle with it , disappointed child on Christmas Day, waiting for the replacement for new years and the replacement doesn’t work either. This is not the scalextric from when we was kids, but a cheap rubbish Chinese pile or plastic. Utterly useless, SECOND time sending back , this time for w refund . DO NO BUY THIS CRAP

Legendary brand Scalextric is a big let down Within a couple of hours of playing and crashing into the skirting boards we found bits of the cars were breaking off and coming loose The quality is very cheap plastic although the track seems more durable We bought 2 additional cars and they were slightly better but at £30 each are quite pricey but very good detailing This set is basic and you will need to buy additional track On the plus side it’s good fun and the cars go very fast and smooth , and it’s a must have for Xmas day!

It didn't disappoint. It was a gift for my 6 year old grandson. He needed a little help to set it up but soon got the hang of it. Bought some extra track to give him more shape choices interest. Cars have taken quite a beating already, but they seem to be holding up, other than one of the spoilers flying off now and again, from crashing into the wall. Would definitely recommend.

120v power adapters for Australia, surely someone at Amazon knows power in Aust is 240v !!

Well I didn’t think I would like this as much as I do. Not having any experience with this company or brand, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I know that this is a British company and the product is made in China, and the quality and durability is fairly high with the biggest downside being the thin cords and cheaply felt handheld controllers, but regardless they are very responsive. Time will only tell how well they hold up. Mind you, this is a ‘vintage’ toy made modern, and it does deliver. This set is very versatile and can be configured into four different tracks. Set up is straight forward, and the track pieces fit together rather well. I will be ordering additional track because while out the box it’s pretty big, I can see that the more space you can devote, the more fun you will have. Get this for your young son or grandson, or, like I did, get it for both of you. This is Hot Wheels and Electric Football on steroids and beats any video game ever made. Show the young ones how cool old school really is. Great job, Hornby!
