I wanted the ability to charge my Model 3 any time we visited our vacation home. I especially like the convenience of charging inside my garage without the worry of inclement weather outside.The decision for purchasing the unit came from our forgetting to pack up the mobile charger when we departed the vacation home recently. This necessitated using a Tesla supercharger, which was easy by the way, prior to our return.Now, we can plug in the charger when we arrive with no muss or fuss and leave the same way. No Muss and no Fuss!The unit is hardwired and charges at an insanely fast rate of 11 kwh at 48 amps. It is a level 2, Generation 2 charger, so don’t expect WiFi connectivity. If you want WiFi buy a Gen 3.Fortunately, I can see and control my charging sessions via my Tesla app so all is right with the world. I use my Tesla app to schedule charging sessions to take advantage of Time Of Use rates.That’s it. It’s a great unit and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to charge in the convenience of your home. Btw, the local utility has approved our rebate application so this makes our purchase very affordable. Enjoy!

I bought this last month when the Tesla web site showed no stock for this and was not accepting orders. It cost me $150 more than from Tesla but it arrived in a couple of days and, importantly, before the electrician was scheduled to come and install it. The box it was in looked a bit battered when it arrived but the charger inside was clearly brand new and in good shape.As others have pointed out this is the (original) Tesla Wall Connector. It has no plug, it instead needs to be hardwired to its circuit. The charging current it will supply is 80% of the circuit breaker rating with a maximum of 80 Amps on a circuit with a 100 Amp circuit breaker. I have one purchased from Tesla on a 100 Amp circuit and it charges my Tesla at the car's top rate of 72 Amps.I actually bought this one, my second, to charge a Hyundai EV that we acquired since it was much easier and cheaper to add the second Wall Connector to the existing 100 Amp circuit than it would have been to install a separate circuit for the extra car. This works perfectly. The Hyundai has a J1772 charge connector, which we connect to the Tesla charger with a JDapter Stub, and charges at a maximum of 32 Amps. When the Tesla and the Hyundai are charging at the same time the chargers give the Tesla 48 Amps and the Hyundai 32 Amps, when the Tesla is charging alone it takes its full 72 Amps. This works well enough that I think I would want the Tesla chargers even if neither car were a Tesla.In any case this is the same charger that Tesla sells and, while it is cheaper when you can purchase from Tesla, it was worth the extra to me to get it when I needed it.

I ordered this Tesla Gen 2 wall connector for several reasons. First I did an investigation of Gen 2 vs Gen 3. I learned that the Gen 2 has no Internet connectivity. But it seemed to me that didn't really offer any particular advantage. There's also a ton of independent reviews (not Amazon) that incorrectly claims the Gen 2 wall charger comes with a 24 foot cable vs. 18 foot for the Gen 3. I needed the longer cable. Lastly, this Gen 2 connector costs less. So I went with it. What I got was a brand new, Gen 3 wall connector and, it turns out has a 24' cable. I'm thrilled. Great deal. I can only presume the seller ran out of Gen 2's and began substituting the newer Gen 3. Had it installed in about two hours. My panel had room for a 6 amp circuit breaker. This new wall connector works just great.

This was a great wall charger, but had to send it back because the thief were trying to steal it, so I put a plug in instead, wish there weren't thieves around trying to steal from hard-working people.

I am happy with this order. The description said that it was black and a gen 2, but I received a white gen 3. The price was the best I could find and getting a gen 3 was better for me.

Completely unprofessional quasi scam operation. This was sold as the 'rare' matte black charger and this wasn't. Also this box had clearly been opened and the contents had been handled and put back in the box. What a total waste of time. FAIL!!!

I wanted a 2nd wall charger for my other garage and decided to give this a try given several reviews claimed it was a GEN 3. Glad I did. New in the box and about $100 less than Tesla.
