4k Makes Such A Difference
This monitor is excellent and represents good quality at it's price point. 60hz 4k transforms my workday. I still use some older HD monitors and the difference between them and this is night and day. If I am away from my home monitor for a week or so and using HD monitors away from home then when I come back this blows my mind everytime. Hopefully one day soon we will have affordable 8k 240hz monitors (I can dream!) but for the time being, 4k 60hz is what everyone should be using! As an Architect I work with CAD and various DTP software which obviously benefits from 4k as I am able to fit more detail onto my screen and lineweights display closer to the way they would appear on a printed page. The reality is though that even basic tasks benefit from the additional resolution - being able to see more cells in Excel spreadsheets, having more email folders on screen in Outlook or even being able to see multiple pages of a Word document at once. This monitor really does improve productivity. The monitor has inputs for HDMI, USB-C and DisplayPort, so I am able to have 3 devices hooked up at once. The buttons for controlling the monitor settings are horrible to use, but thankfully the application 'Dell Display Manager' (which can be downloaded from Dell's website for free) allows you to programme keyboard shortcuts to toggle the monitors source input, meaning that you shouldn't need to use the monitor buttons very often. There is a USB hub (although not KVM switch which could have been useful). I have used the hub occasionally, however I found that my mouse was not running smoothly when connected through the monitor. This could be a problem with my laptop or the USB-C cable rather than the monitor. The USB-C cable which is supplied with the monitor is very short. As other reviewers have pointed out, the bezels of the monitor are not particularly well built and if you look closely (especially at the bottom bezel of my monitor) there are manufacturing discrepancies. This does not impact the monitors performance however and unless you look closely, it still looks very smart on the desk.

This monitor was a productivity boost for me. Very impressed.
I needed a monitor for home office work, but at the same time usable for creative applications, in particular photo and video editing. The U2720Q has a good resolution which was important, because the creative applications have so many panes, that the image/video preview area can be small on other monitors. I have been using the monitor for several weeks now (Update: I have used this monitor now for more than one year, and I am still very happy with it) and my productivity has improved immensely. For office work, having multiple documents visible on the screen and not having them fight for space has made a difference. For general photo and video editing, I love the resolution and colours. I now feel a lot more confident to make image edits. I'm using Capture One and Resolve. They both are very usable with this monitor's resolution. The 27 inch size seems ideal for the distance that a monitor is expected to be placed (i.e. at end of desk, outstretched fingertip distance according to working best practice guidelines). At a normal height (seated at typical 75 cm tall desk) with the top of the monitor set to be in line with the eyes, I have plenty of space underneath the monitor for laptop, pen holder/mug etc., so it is space-saving too. I did not use the supplied monitor stand although it looks very good. Instead I'm using the VESA mount screw-holes (100x100mm) with a desk-clamped arm, simply because I already had this, and so I've got a bit more space underneath the monitor freed up. The screen is matt, which is great, and the brightness and colour is very even.. perhaps a few millimetres of lightness at the extreme corner is visible. I can move my head from side to side and the colour and brightness does not noticeably change. The colours are bright and the image is of course sharp, through the USB-C and HDMI connections. One annoying thing is that the monitor configuration buttons are small and very stiff to press, which makes it unpleasant to switch from one input to another. It's annoying because I frequently use two PCs sharing mouse and keypad and monitor. Still, it's a minor issue I guess. There are USB sockets on the monitor, and they 'just work' when USB-C is being used for the video connection between the PC/laptop and the monitor. It works great with my 15" Surface Book 2 which doesn't have a lot of USB ports built-in. It also powers the Surface Book 2. There is a setting on the laptop to configure the battery to only charge to 50%, so that it can be used for extended periods like this, to preserve the internal battery quality. There are a lot of comments about the bezel, but I've not seen an issue so far. I had a look closely at the bezel, and the photo explains it more. Basically, the LCD glass extends all the way to within 1mm of the size of the monitor. The plastic portion of the bezel is really just 1mm. the LCD glass has a black border of around 5mm. As can be expected, the LCD glass cannot be gripped internally right at the edge, unless it was permanently glued in, which it isn't. So, you can gently press on the LCD glass and it will flex in slightly if you press right at the edge of the glass. I'm guessing the people who had issues, may have had warped plastic bezel, rather than warped glass! However the monitor doesn't seem to run hot (I run it for all day), just very slightly warm, and there are air vents at the top too. Perhaps it was an early production issue. This monitor is quite sophisticated, it has a lot of configurability, and features I have not even explored yet. I am very happy with it. In summary, this seems a great, reasonably future-proof monitor with modern inputs and a spectacularly good image quality. The low heat output and good quality brand name leads me to think this monitor may provide many years of good service.

U2719D seems to replace U2713H in Dell's product line. I own both, having bought the older U2713H around 2015 for hundreds more than this latest D model, which has a completely redesigned case and stand, very nice, thinner border around the edge, for those who care. Both models have DP-in and DP-out ports which I wanted. The only surprise came when plugging into an HP ProDesk machine running W7-Pro, apparently the DisplayPort drivers automatically seized the audio output and redirected to the monitor (which has speakers). I had my own sound system plugged directly into the HP, but that output was no longer active: Suddenly No Sound! A quick check of the OS control panel revealed the monitor as the output device for audio...changing that back to the system default made everything 'wonderful again'. I've been pleased with the older U2713H and HM models (I own three; 2xHM, 1xH), and this D model is every bit as good as the H. Color is great, brightness great, no discernible dead pixels. (Note: I'm not using this for gaming, so can't speak to refresh speeds). This monitor seems to be targeted at graphic designers, but that is not what I'm using it for, so I can't speak to whether it meets those requirements., but if the U2713H model worked for you, this U2719D should also: No discernible drop in quality associated with the drop in price. "Yes!"
