Pulled Below 100 Microns Fast — Great Value Vacuum Pump for DIY Mini-Split Installs
Used this on a ductless mini-split install. I specifically chose the 7.2 CFM model to ensure I could pull a deep vacuum on a short line set using a 3/8" SAE connection. The pump pulled down below 100 microns extremely quickly and had no trouble getting into deep-vacuum territory. For a DIY install, this was well worth the price. Oil changes were straightforward, startup was smooth, and it ran consistently without excessive noise or heat. Paired with proper hoses and a micron gauge, it performed exactly as needed for a clean evacuation. Obviously this isn’t meant to replace commercial shop equipment used all day long, but for occasional installs or homeowner work, it does the job very well. If you size the pump correctly, use cores-out evacuation, and verify with a micron gauge, this pump is more than capable of delivering professional-level results for a mini-split.

Decent pump for automotive AC
Replace the fuel seals on my AC system on my vehicle. I ended up losing all the freon due to these leaks. So instead of taking it somewhere I have a set of gauges but I needed a vacuum pump to pull vacuum on the system and make sure it has no more leaks and to dry it out. I settled on this pump I know it's only a quarter horsepower but it does the job. It pumped down the system fairly quickly in about 15 minutes but I let it run for over an hour to ensure it pulled a heavy vacuum to help dry out the system. I let the system sit for about 5 hours make sure I had no leaks. I fill the system with freon and it works great. The nice thing about this pump is it comes with the oil, and there are two type of fittings on the pump one for r22 and one for r143a. The pump construction seems pretty durable although I wouldn't drop it it will probably snap something. The oil is easy to drain and the side Glass is nice so you can see any contamination in the oil. Just make sure when you replace the oil you you vacuum pump oil of a good quality. I imagine after a few uses the oil will become contaminated with moisture. Otherwise this pump work fantastic for my intermittent use for the home mechanic

Good Pump, Good Value
I bought this to evacuate the air conditioning system in my 2015 Forester after having replaced a high pressure rubber gasket that was leaking at its A/C compressor attachment point. After leaving it run for 45 minutes, the VIVOHOME 3.5 CFM Single Stage Rotary Vane Air Vacuum Pump was hot to the touch but it did create the vacuum needed. That vacuum was maintained for over 30 minutes even after the pump was shut off giving me proof that there were no other leaks in the system. Using my auto A/C vacuum gauges and hoses, I then recharged the system with one 12 oz. can of R13 . VIVOHOME's instructions say before running to add the included pump oil up to the fill line level in the site glass. There are two fill lines, a min and a max. I decided to fill it to to the min fill line and that seemed to be the right level as no oil spray came out of the exhaust hole at any point during my use and the oil level remained constant. I was left with about a quarter of the provided oil still available for future use or topping up. It's recommended to change the oil after each use but the oil in my pump remained clear and clean so I left it in the pump for another use. Often times, I think of a low cost item as being inferior; and oftentimes it is. But I don't think that's the case with the VIVOHOME 3.5 CFM Pump as I was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked.

Fantastic vacuum pump for the DIYer, or low volume solo pro.
WHile my career shifted decades ago, I still have the knownedge and skills to DIY my own repairs when my AC dies on my car. First things first, this is NOT a recovery machine, nor is it intended to be. If you are DIYing your own AC repair, take the unit in to have it recovered by a local shop or shade tree with a recovery machine. They might actually pay YOU for the refrigerant recovered.... Break in procedure is in the user guide, such as it is. The oil included is of course vital. Hook it up properly to an empty system that needs to be vacuumed, open your low side guage and turn this thing on, watch it slam the needle over and you are pulling plenty of vacuum with no funny noises. Build quality seems decent enough for the cost. To be blunt it just does what I need it to do, and really have no reason to suspect it of not being able to hold up to light to medium use. I wouldn't want it to be my only vacuum pump in a busy shop where i Need to move several cars a day to make my living, but for DIYer or a mechanic that might do a job once a month involving vacuuming down an auto AC system this would really fill the bill...

After many mixed reviews and an incomplete owner manual, I'd like to share how I started my new vacuum pump which is a mix of the actual owner manual and the break-in procedure from a well-known brand vacuum pump I use at my job. 1- Fill half-way with provided oil (between Min and Max) and let sit 1-2 minute for oil to distribute inside and avoid a dry pump seizure at startup. 2-Remove the exhaust plug and remove at least one of the 2 inlet (vacuum) cap, it's to start it without pressure restrains. 3- Start the pump and let it run for a few seconds until the sound is nice and even, the pump will fume a little from the airflow going through it. It will prime the pump and make sure air bubbles are evacuated before putting it to work. 4-Put the caps ONLY ON THE INTAKE SIDE (vacuum), let it heat/buildup vacuum for 15-20 minutes and make sure the oil is between Min and Max while pumping, readjust as necessary. 5-Stop it without pressure restrain (remove inlet caps). 6-Drain the oil, this will flush the assembly/machining grim and dirt. Tilt it forward to get it all out. 7-Refill it as per step 1 to 5 with the remaining provided oil and you'll need more so buy a pint of namebrand high vacuum pump oil available here or at any local autoparts shop. No need to let it run again for 15+ minutes, just long enough to confirm the oil level is good while in operation. And that's it! To keep it in good working condition as long as possible, start/stop it without pressure restrain if possible, store it with inlet and exhaust cap in place when not in use and change the oil once in a while or when you cant achieve your usual max vacuum point on a leak-free system. This aint no guarantee, you still can receive a DOA unit but I believe many bad reviews were written by people unaware of what they were doing and followed the less than complete owner manual. Hope It will help someone.
