Amazing for under £20.00
Wo! What a lovely little unit this is. The size is just like the old slim Walkman style (nice and compact). For the £20 this is great value for money with amazing quality and durability too. Comes with software for windows, I am using Linux Mint and I had it working in less than a minute as this thing powers by USB when plugged in. I used Audacity in Linux and started to make the first cassette into digital format with no issues at all. The sound captured was amazing and even after 20+ years of gathering dust, they still sound great.

Not bad, but not brilliant either
I found some old cassette tapes in a box in my loft and wanted to listen to them as they likely contained songs from my youth. Didn't have a tape player so got this as added bonus of being able to connect and record on my PC as needed. PROs - It does it's job, it plays cassettes. - It's cheap. - Arrived quickly and well packaged. - Recognised natively by Windows 10 and 11 (no faffing with setup) CONs - There is a noticeable hiss on playback. - The earphones are very, very cheap and uncomfortable. - USB cable was faulty when arrived - had to use a different one to be recognised on PC. - No power adaptor included - Application included is Audacity, which is free to download online (and made by another company). - Even using brand new high-performance batteries, the playback sounds slightly slower than it should (could be due to age of the tapes though?). Overall, it's not bad - get what you pay for. It does it's job but there will be better units out there or different options. You will need to use Audacity's features to clean up the recordings after transfer. Also noticed a number of other companies selling the exact same product with a different branding so seems to be a generic unit re-sold by numerous retailers.

Excellent Customer Support
The product is very easy to use, but my device stopped recording after a while. I contacted customer services and they took me through step-by-step how to ensure that the software had loaded correctly; how to ensure the device was being recognised by my computer; and how to ensure the device was working correctly. This was done via email and the support team provided visuals to aid my understanding - turns out that you have to turn the volume control on the side of device to maximum for it to record through the USB microphone (this must have been turned down by me unknowingly). So simple in the end but I was not aware of this fact. Thank you support team for your patience and excellent support.

Give this a miss.
Works for about 4 conversions then distorts the sound. Not worth buying, total rubbish.

Cheap feel. Don’t expect Sony quality.
Motor hum very obvious when headphones used, but not obvious in transfer to PC. Tape speed seems good. Overall build quality and “feel” is cheap.

fix problem
One person said that the player is slow: not true. Like all Walkman players, they slow down when the battery is nearing its end. Replace the battery and you're up and running. It needs an old style USB cable. You may find one in the draw where your phone cables live? I did. Once that is fitted and plugged into the mains, you'll have no problem with speed or any other feature and you can use a power bank instead of batteries. This player costs a third of what a normal Walkman will cost and is well worth it. Also you need to bear in mind that if you play 40 year old cassette tapes they need to be rewound before play to avoid 'tape salad and that the sound is not the same as it is with modern high quality downloads. I'm very happy with mine and would buy it again

Truly awful sound, good software
This is one of many identical Chinese-manufactured tape-USB packages available. It comes with the player, cable, headphones, and software. It is relatively simple to use and allows conversions of tape recordings to .mp3 format. Well it does, sort of. If you like excessive warble. Quite how a modern factory can make a tape player so bad is a bit of a mystery. I've bought a personal stereo from a car boot sale for 20p that is far superior. I would guess that my particular model may be a result of not uncommon dodgy Chinese quality control, as other reviewers have not mentioned such poor quality playback. In essence, this tape player cannot maintain a steady speed, no matter what age of tape is used. This is great if you want to replicate your 1980s dodgy car stereo, but not great if you want to convert anything other than spoken words. It's like listening to chalk grating down a blackboard. There's also a bit of background hum, although this really doesn't make much difference. Truly awful. The Audacity software supplied is good. It's not 100% intuitive to use straight away, but once familiar it can edit and produce compatible mp3 files. It would help if the player wasn't terrible, but at least some sort of output is created which is better than looking at a tape. Note to self: try out the new toy before the returns window closes.

Brilliant
This tape player is amazing! It plays all my old tapes without chewing them up, and easily plugs into my laptop to record tracks from the tape into Audacity program. (I already had Audacity so didn't need the cd) it is easy to use, and there is a button to play tape in both directions so you don't have to turn the tape around to play the other side. So far it has lasted well (I've only had it a couple of weeks but it has got intensive use).
