I'm a Big Brother : Cole, Joanna, Kightley, Rosalinda: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Lovely little book to help small children understand about a new baby. - Like the other reviewers, I thought twice before buying this book due to the Americanisms such as Diaper and Mommy, but its incredibly easy to read out in English, and just as relevant. Its a lovely hard cover book with nice glossy pages, so should stand a fair bit of thumbing through. The message through the book is endearing, positive and sweet, and the illustrations are lovely. I also have 'Pirate Pete' but my 2 year old is more interested in this one. Don't let the words Mommy and Diaper put you off, the book reads very well, and will be a firm favourite throughout the rest of my pregnancy and into new baby territory! Review: Im a big brother - This was a gift the response i received was just pure joy, it was being read to the son and his mum said it was lovely it brought a tear to her eyes reading it real sweet

Good to help introduce little ones to what it will be like to have a new baby in the family
Overall I am pleased with this book. Whilst it does use the term 'diaper', its obviously pretty easy to substitute that for the word 'nappy' when reading it to my little boy so its no real problem. My son is 2 1/2 years and at 30 weeks pregnant I've just started reading this book with him. He seems very engaged and interested and its has led us on to talking about what it will be like when the baby comes along and what it will mean for him to be a big brother. What I particularly like is the emphasis on reminding him that he will still be very special to mummy & daddy and that he'll now have an extra special new role as 'big brother' and also reminding him of all the good things about being a big boy now (to try and temper any building jealousy). Unfortunately there is no mention of the possibility of breastfeeding the baby - as with most of these type of books that I've looked at they always talk about bottle feeding the baby. Overall, a good way to help explain to a little one what this might mean to them. Nice too that there is a 'big brother' and 'big sister version. He must have enjoyed it as the next day it was the first book he pulled off the shelf to read with me!

Good but American English
Good introduction for an older sibling for a new arrival. But the language is American and not British English, so it says "diaper" and "mommy". Other than that, good.

big hit for big brothers
This little book was a big hit with my 2 year old grandson when his little brother was born. It helped him to understand what what going on and that this happens all the time to lots of other children. It also made him feel special and loved [there are a couple of pages devoted to this]. The books tells us why babies cry and what they like.It explains that he was a baby once and looked just like the new baby. I would recommend this book very highly.

One of our favourite stories
We had those book brought for our little boy when we had our 2nd son. It's such a great story and they both loved when we read it to them. We ended up buying one for friends.

My 3 year old son loves this book so much ...
My 3 year old son loves this book so much , he chooses it every night and cuddles it in bed ! The book says that big brother must ask mummy if he can hold baby ... and the other weekend when we had friends visiting with their baby , he did just that . So he is taking it all in. Very cute book , tells a big brother what he can expect from a new born sibling (i.e. not much aside from Sleeping , drinking milk and crying !)

big brother book
We bought our son this in preparation for when our 2nd child arrives (currently 5 months pregnant). He has been really taken with it and it is helping to prepare him that pretty soon we will have a baby at home, but he will have a very special role to play as the big brother. Its a lovely book and emphasises how big, and grown up and special he is and always will be, even though we will also have a baby around soon.

We bought this for our sons when we told him he was becoming a big brother. He absolutely loves it. Great illustrations, and easy to read for a 6 year old. Makes them feel included, loved and makes them feel important as they can now read it to their new sibling.

This book is so beautiful. Our new baby girl gave it to her big brother in hospital when he first met her. Was so special.

The book is ok although very simple and doesn't really approach many subjects. We also bought Babies Don't Eat Pizza, which was a lot more complete so we're saving this one for when he baby is actually here. I don't think it's great to prepare an older child for a baby but it's a nice little book.

My 3–year-old loved the book, and it helped him prepare for the arrival of a new sibling. He referenced it a lot in the early days!
