Simple Setup and Solid Throughput!
The units are easy to setup with a no frills system. Once you have your TP-Link ID, you pop them in, get them on-line and they work. Easy peasy! Before purchasing the unit I had some questions that needed clarification and the TP-Link representative Anjanette took their time and provided me with all the info that I needed. Thank you very much Anjanette! It's been about a month and the system is behaving as expected. The Pre-Sales support that TP-link offers is fantastic. If there is one knock I have on this product it is that TP-Link does not offer the ability to limit Port Forwarding to a single External IP. This is not something that is complicated and difficult to implement, and other brands offer this feature in their consumer based products. Other than that, it's a darn fine system and the Deco app allows real-time remote viewing of your setup which is fantastic!

Deco X50 PoE
The TP-Link Deco X50 PoE is an excellent mesh system that provides full-home coverage. While the wireless connection is effective, using a wired Ethernet backhaul dramatically improved the performance and stability across my network. I paired all three Deco units with the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch (4 PoE+ Ports @65W) for a seamless setup. If i need to expand coverage, I'll wirelessly connect another Deco unit to the existing network

Amazing Customer Service
Had problems when I installed the system. My regular IT professional was unable to fix it. Called customer service and they also could not solve the problem. They elevated my case to Parker, a senior TP-Link engineer. He was patient and methodical and was able to finally identify the problem in my home wiring that was causing the problem. System works great now thanks to outstanding customer service that doesn't give up on complex cases.

Must use app. PoE Mounting is so-so
I've had a few mesh WiFi systems over the years. I got this one specifically because there aren't many PoE options. The Deco X50-PoE has that, and is capable of mounting on the wall or ceiling with the included hardware via an electrical outlet box. Mounting high allows better signals throughout the home. However, the included mounting brackets are pretty weak and begin to bend after a few months under the weight of the X50-PoE units. The brackets are also black, when most homes have white ceilings. I know that comes down to personal preference, but I feel like matching the most common ceiling color would make more sense. As for the Deco Mesh system itself: it's okay. You have to use the app for setup and admin, which makes things pretty seamless. Parental controls are mediocre unless you pay for the advanced controls. Then they're mediocre++. You can't block entire domains with a wildcard and have to rely on manually blocking whenever a questionable site is accessed. Something else that bothers me is the lack of MAC whitelisting. In other words, the Deco doesn't allow you to block all MAC addresses by default and allow only the ones you define. This probably isn't an issue for most users, and the simplicity and seamlessness of the app should work well for most. I still give it 4 stars because it just works. I've had a couple instances during my 1.5 years of ownership where I needed to manually restart the Decos, but otherwise they just work. You'll have whole-home wifi coverage quickly and easily if that's all you're looking for. **UPDATE 2025-05-12** I revisited the documentation and realized I installed them incorrectly: mounting to an outlet box is for wall mounting applications - not for ceiling mount. So if you already have an electrical box in place specifically for networking hardware it doesn't matter as you're still expected to drill holes into your ceiling. Keeping the 4 stars not because of the mounting but because of the limited admin tools.

Great Way to Modernize an Older Deco Setup
This was an excellent addition to my existing Deco M9 mesh WiFi system. I am now using this Deco X50-PoE as my main router because it includes the VPN functionality that my older M9 units lacked. The integration was completely seamless, allowing me to keep all my older units in service while significantly upgrading my network's capabilities. Highly recommended for anyone looking to expand or modernize an older Deco mesh.

Saludos.

Not quite as as easy to set up as I thought but ok, they only came with 240v power supplies even though they can connect POE which is why I bought them, had to to buy a POE powered switch to operate as these we’re placing my current wired system that was hard wired

Saludos
