I have tried to use it with an SD card as recommended and thinking that compatible products would be ideal
I have decided to edit my review and increase the star rating. As mentioned earlier, this works very well with Audible. I initially tried it with a 64GB SD card sandisk which did not work for me and a message came back "refreshing your media" then "Disk Error! Please re-plug SD card" which I tried numerous times (and it works elsewhere so it was not the card). SanDisk got back to me in the promised two working days and said the maximum micro SD card that may be used with the device is 32GB. I have now put my music on a 32GB micro SD and it works perfectly and catalogues the music too and brings up the artwork. It also works well with bbc iplayer podcasts downloaded to it. I find with my in the house over the ear headphones the radio is excellent and the sound superb, however the in-ear phones are not quite so good with radio reception, but adequate when out walking the dogs. For the price it is excellent. It is extremely light and portable with a long battery life. I have an ipod touch which is good, but this is superior as an personal audio device as it has a radio, accepts Audible downloads and has the potential for more storage for all my music (which was a serious limitation with my 8GB ipod touch) so I have increased the rating on this to 5 stars.

Not as good as its predecessors, the Clip Sport and Clip Jam.
UPDATE 4 July 2020: In my initial review posted below, I was having nothing but trouble with my original MP3 player I purchased. I sent it back and requested a replacement. 6 months on with the replacement, it is working flawlessly - No problems whatsoever! Bluetooth works perfectly every time, the clip on the back hasn't broken and the device is easy to use. I'm very happy with my replacement - it's changed my opinion of this device 180! ------------ Original Review 20th January 2020 ------------ As a veteran of Sandisks MP3 Players, I've previously owned the Clip Jam and Clip Sport and they were both very sturdy and very good players and lasted many, many years before being replaced. Sadly the newest generation, the Clip Sport Plus falls far short of my expectations. Start with the plus side first: - Standard Clip Sport look-and-feel to it and colourful. - Lightweight, small and unobtrusive. - Waterproof, rugged and shockproof. Great for sports and outdoor activities. - Choice of Bluetooth or 3.5mm jack for listening with. - Easy to transfer MP3 files from PC to MP3 player. Just navigate with Explorer and you're done. No special software needed here! Cons: - Marginally larger/ chunkier than the former Clip Sport. I recon this is due to it now being waterproof and more rugged for outdoor use. The connection ports have little covers to protect them from the elements. - Bluetooth! Bluetooth worked well the first few weeks, pairing to my earphones, car, phone flawlessly. Then suddenly it didn't want to know. Didn't want to connect. Tried resetting it, restart, updating firmware etc but to no avail. - The Clip on the back broke in the first week. My former Sandisk Sport and Jam both had clips, and both worked perfectly up until the end of their life and they were used on a very regular basis. - Buttons are harder to press. Recon this is due to the ruggedness and waterproof-ness of this new MP3 player. - Volume Restrictions. A lot of reviews complain about low volume. You can easily bypass this when you initially select your Region during setup. **DO NOT SELECT EUROPE!** Choose a different continent and you'll get full volume. The volume restriction is down to EU regulations, not SanDisk. In summary, I'm genuinely disappointed with Sandisks latest offering of their Clip Sport Mp3 player. Initially it's a great little thing, but the BT stopped working which was the reason I bought this MP3 player in the first place, so I could play my music through my wireless earbuds. Only after a mere 3 weeks, I've returned the MP3 player to Amazon for a replacement, and *touchwood* this new one might work better than the last one this time round. I'm willing to give Sandisk the benefit of the doubt but if this one also fails to work properly, it too will also go back for a refund and get a different brand of MP3 player all together. Time will tell. 5/10

Great light weight MP3 player with long battery life.
This is a great simple MP3 player. I have had one for 3 years and now my wife wanted one so I bought this. It is very lightweight, uses the same micro usb connection to charge and connect to a pc as does my phone and tablet, it is a drag and drop facility for mp3 files - none of that silly Apple nonsense. Mine has been reliable and I love its fantastic battery life. It basically does for me on long journeys (music, podcasts and audio books) where I can preserve the battery life in my phone, and during exercise where the clip performs really well providing it is clipped to something more than very lightweight clothing. I use my phone for Bluetooth and Spotify and I guess the absence of internet and bluetooth is what helps make it so light, inexpensive and useable. The supplied headphones are useful for setting up but I use a set of soundmagic in ear phones for listening and like the sound quality. It has radio but I have never used it.

Just ok.
very good, however the clip broke and it's not possible to repair. kinda defeats the purpose as cannot be worn. the screen is hard to see, it doesnt light up enough. the navigation is not very intuitive and hard to switch songs / albums if you are running. i think it is somewhat practicle and cheap but not outstanding in any good way.

Good Quality
Bought this as a gift. I'd bought the 4GB version as a gift for someone a couple of years ago and the person this 8GB version is for was always saying how much they liked it so hence this purchase. It takes a while to charge, think it was 1-2 hours but you get better battery life from it, I know because I have to charge my Sony MP3 more frequently than this one. Its really easy to set up, just plug it in to your computer via the cable provided, and whilst it was charging I copied music from my laptop to the device, just drag and drop. Once charged, remove from the computer and follow the instructions on the devices screen for set up. It has other audio things on it, but I only used the Music & Radio, so I set up a couple of Pre-Set Radio channels that I know the recipient of this gift will like. And now its in its new case (bought separately) fully charged and set up ready to use when the person opens their gift. It really is a great little MP3 Player, I love my Sony MP3, but I like this even better, the sound is of the same high quality and the radio is just as good, but visually finding the tracks is better and there is a little spring clip on the back of the devices so you can clip it on your clothes etc. Love it!

Small is convenient
I bought this player to avoid carrying around my Galaxy S10+. It's tiny and light...so light it can be clipped to a sleeve pocket or even clipped to your neckline. The interface is old school but easy to understand. One thing...it does have MicroSD card expansion but it works best with Sandisk cards. I did try other brands but the player froze or would not recognise the card. I suggest you avoid all this and get one from the get-go. It's reasonably, priced and has great sound. DO NOT use the headphones provided, they are awful but most of us have a pair or two for use with the jack anyway. Also choose Rest of the World in settings because if you choose Europe as your location it will limit your volume range for some reason. Otherwise, it's a great little gadget for workouts or for those who don't wish to be interrupted by notifications or calls or texts. Great little gizmo to have handy.

hmmmmmmm
EDIT: I wrote the review below shorrly after purchasing it. Less than a year later it's completely stopped working so no, I no longer recommend it! Really pleased with this, it works a treat and is fantastic value for money compared to other mp3 players available. Pros: - great battery life - decent storage - easy enough to use once you get used to a few little quirks (eg my old player stored all files together - this one separates music, audiobooks and podcasts into different folders, but doesn't always get it right) - so tiny! (see photo) this is a plus for me as it like it to be unnoticeable in my pocket. But I guess it could be fiddly for some - when you switch it on, it remembers where you stopped listening last time - very handy with long audiobooks - the clip is handy to keep it in one place and stop it mating with your keys etc Cons: - to get the volume louder than a whisper you have to go through and annoying permission screen where it reminds you that high volume can damage your hearing and asks you to authorise max volume. This happens EVERY time. - something a bit odd about the lock button - it seems to sometimes skip a track when you lock it? Annoying with audiobooks. But might just be me.

Parental Advice: Well worth buying
I'll try to write this review as one parent to another.... I was a little sceptical buying this player for my 9-year old son with his birthday money as I had been burned by so many other sub-£50 devices. As it turned out I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only was this player simple to use but the sound quality was clear and the battery life phenomenal. To date we have charged this player just once (my son listens to it most nights for stories using a pair of speakers) It also has a sleep setting which he have set at 30 minutes so it shuts down automatically. I was also pleased that the charging port is the same as android phones (Micro USB) which saves having to keep track of a specific cable. Another good feature is you can play by folder. This means so long as your audio book files are sequentially named it will play them in order - A huge plus over players that can only play by album or artist and then miss files out if album data is missing from them. I was also pleased with the file transfer rate from my laptop. With previous players it has taken upwards of an hour to transfer around 6GB of music. With this player it was done in just over 10 minutes (although this seems to vary depending on cable quality and whatever dark arts Windows 10 is doing at the time) Another plus is the colour - being orange it is easy to spot when it falls down the back of his bed. another Plus is it is fairly rugged. I've accidentally stepped on it twice and it hasn't broken (which is more than can be said of my phone!). so all in all an excellent little player.
