A good learning tool lacking tacticool
I've had this unit for a little while now learning its strengths and weaknesses. As it's a generation 1 tube is going to have a lot of weakness compared to gen 2 or 3 tubes though it is around 10 times cheaper than gen 2. I've found this is a good stepping stone into the world of analogue night vision and have already priced up a gen 2 unit to be it's eventual replacement. That being said I'm still pushing the boundaries of what this unit can do to learn as much as possible. I understand the 60mm lens is probably the best option to gather as much ambient light as possible however I feel the 5x magnification could have been avoided as it reduces the FOV from the probably expected 40° to just 12° which makes it best suited to being perched on a tripod only. The IR illuminator has a nice diffused though focused beam that helps the unit see in more challenging conditions such as cloud cover or indoors. Battery life has also been better than expected despite moderate use with and without IR. Overall this is a good learning tool for understanding the technology. Something useful to know is how much the different tubes enhance ambient light: Gen 1 - 1000x / Gen 2 - approx 20,000x / Gen 3 - approx 30,000x

The Item does what it says on the tin.
The Item is very good in deep dark conditions - expecially with the Infra Red light on. Its not fantastic for Astronomy as the detail is not great at this distance. I did have an issue with the product and wrote to the supplioer but they did not respond - which was a little concerning. Overall a good item that works well. Yukon NV 5x60 Night Vision Monocular

I'Ts very poor and infra red only works at minimal range
I'Ts very poor and infra red only works at minimal range. Also, a sudden flash of light causes me temporary loss of vision I'm not using it. YOU ignored my email informing you of this. Yours Sincerely, C.T. Hunter. R.M.

A gem in Night Scopes.
I bought the Yukon to replace a Bresser Scope which turned out to be flawed. When it arrived the Postman commented that 'it rattles' shaking the package which duly rattled. As usual,Amazon had used inadequate packing for an Optical device, box dropped into a slightly larger box and a screwed up piece of paper stuffed into the gap left. On unpacking all was to hand, it was in it's pouch and a battery readily to hand. The first problem was opening the Battery compartment as the cap was screwed on by a Gorilla. It took a friend to secure the scope with two hands while I used two hands to turn it. Eventually we got it to turn, remove it and fit the battery. It does say in the manual " do not over tighten " ! Next we found the same Gorilla had tightened the Objective Lens to the same degree. After much straining we were able to move it. Tried it out as evening came on in half light and were pleasantly surprised at the performance with IR turned off.Good sharp image from edge to edge and showed gloomy corners well. After dark it was the same, giving excellent performance and when the Street lights were turned off giving serious dark it still performed well without the need for IR. Turning the IR on was a revelation and it will illuminate up to a estimated 100 yds with no problem. Focus is good and can be quite sharp. It should be noted, that when IR is on, do not try to view through household windows as the IR reflects back into the lens blotting out everything and your viewing eye stays blobby for a while. It is well made, well weighted and feels right in the hand. For the price, this has to be the best entry level scope you can get.Apart from the packing problem and two minor probs easily sorted this is an excellent problem and the Bresser it replaces can't get near it.

Not impressed
I found that it couldn’t spot anything more than 20m away even when I coupled it with an infra red filter and high powered spotlight…

Good bit of kit
This little nightscope is awesome, it works in low light and can cover the area of a field. The ir is good and really makes things a lot clear but does not have a great range. It's prob worth buying an extra ir torch for extra range. Over all not a bad piece of kit.

Slightly disappointed
The Night Vision Scope illuminated things as expected but I am concerned about the on/off switch as it doesn't appear to turn off the ambient light intensifier immediately and this could lead to the batteries being drained. The infra-red illuminator worked well.

Easy to use - once focused correctly the image was a lot better than I thought it would be in this price range. Very impressed with the range that can be seen in the darkest of conditions . Am gonna play around with a IR illuminator to see just how far this scope can "see" . Would of given it 5 stars but for the reflected glare from the IR that tends to dazzle a bit. A great budget priced scope that arrived well packaged and promptly. Great product.
