He's SIlenus!
This cast iron figure on a marble-ish plinth is everything you can expect at the price, but it isn't Pan, it's the god/satyr Silenus, based on a statuette discovered at the Greek oracle of Dodona and dated to 550-500 BCE. He's a god of winemaking and drinking, and every bit a entertaining as Pan, but Pan he is not. The lively figure doesn't have the detail of the original - well, you wouldn't expect it to at the price - but has an attractive bronzy finish, good weight to it, and is a fine addition to the collection. Well worth it, though I spent ages trying to discover who it actually represented!
