Toilet Renovation Cleaning Kit, Effective Bathroom & WC Cleaner, Cleans and Descales Toilet Bowl & Under Toilet Rim, Limescale & Stain Remover - 500ml (318006106)

We live in a hard water area and have noticed that things are now regularly sticking to the bowl and then sadly a toilet brush has to be used more often now to clean things up. We've realised (after closer inspection - no pun intended) that this is because the bowl has quite a bit of limescale on the back, above, and below the water line. The good news is that the issue seems to be limescale and therefore the good news is that the toilets do not need re-glazing! Double Trouble: We have tried this product on two toilets in the house. The night before, I used a Harpic Bleach product that was supposed to remove tough limescale. It hasn't done the job (see the photos) and we've used it regularly for a long time so now was the time to try something new. To be honest, we had thought it was working but the residual deposits of limescale don't lie. The first toilet is bright white and the second is "champagne" which is an off peach colour. We only bought one application but there was plenty fluid in the bottle to clean both toilets. The applicator brush also lasted so that I could use it on both toilets. However, after two applications the brush and plastic holder are now definitely finished. The good news is that I never felt that the brush was going to fall off. But once it is used twice the brush is done. I followed the instructions and put on the fluid and waited for 30-40 minutes. The next step was some vigorous but slow scrubbing under the rim, in the bowl, and around the U-bend. A good point is that the pink fluid foams up as you rub it and it gets into contact with water so you can see where you have been. Results: The White toilet looks really clean and the limescale is almost all gone. A pleasing job and seems to have done what was expected. I'd give it a good 9 out of 10 on white toilets The Champagne toilet looks clean to the eye. In the photos it doesn't look as good as the White toilet, but this might be because of the darker colour of the toilet itself. I did also note that in this case there is still some limescale left below the water line which I'm guessing would need more rubbing. So for darker toilets I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I would definitely use this product again - may be once every six months. It was not a difficult job and the results were very good as long as you wait at least 30 minutes. Slow but vigorous scrubbing is required with the fluid mixed in with water from the bowl. That way you will get good results - go slow to avoid unwanted splashback. Do not expect the fluid on its own to eat away the limescale, you have to put in the work I'm afraid. I suspect that this is why others weren't impressed. Everything comes in the box including gloves so when you're finished you can bin the lot with the pride of a good job done and the knowledge you won't have to do this again for a long while yet. What this has made me think is whether the regular products I have been using are any good. I may start looking at a more effective limescale removal fluid rather than something that is more like bleach that isn't really doing the job. Got this as the bottom of the toilet pan and rim had dark brown stains that just wouldn’t budge. Tried bicarbonate of soda with vinegar, coke - all things I looked up that says would work - they didn’t. Then saw this and reviews. Took heed from some of the other reviews and did scoop out as much water as I could from the pan and then poured solution in. Left for about 1hr. The scourer holder they give you is no good so with gloves on, just used the scour pad to wash round the pan and rim. Immediately scum started coming away. And my toilet is almost back to normal, white and clean. There is one stubborn patch I will need to do again but didn’t need to use the whole bottle so plenty left, which I may try overnight for stubborn stain. Think this is value for money as it pretty much did the job in an hour. Would recommend. So nice to have a white toilet pan again! Also works on stubborn stains round sinks!

Absolutely worth the price! Doesn’t compare to normal bleach. We’ve had some really stubborn stains which I’ve tried everything. This made all the limescale drift away so easy. The brush it comes with is good too!

Worked quickly. Very effective on a toilet that hadn’t been cleaned for 3 years - and was covered in limescale and everything else. The included scraper was exactly the right size to get under the rim and move everything that had been loosened by the liquid product. A grim job but this worked when 6 Harpic tablets, bleach, limescale remover and hand scrubbing (yes we did) did not work. One bottle treated the toilet twice for good measure.

I was a little disappointed with this. I expected a strong acid but really it's not. I used the entire bottle on one application, and you could just tell that it's not very strong at all. No fizzing. It is a gel so at least it stuck around for a while. It was very difficult to squeeze it out of the bottle though. Not sure why it has a fine spout on the bottle, you can't "fire it out" so you might as well remove the spout and just pour it out. The scrubbing pad fell apart pretty quickly, but you can't expect much more. The gloves are good, but thin. It did remove all the scale, so give it credit for that, but it took a very long time. I have certainly used far stronger products than this in the past so I am afraid I have to think this is somewhat over-priced. Recommended with reservations.

It works very well. Leave it overnight and spray well into the rim of the toilet. Next day dirt is easily scrubbed off with the included brush.

Best product we tried to clean/descale our toilet. After trying everything this was the only thing that worked. Didn’t clear everything but good enough

I've used this on two very stained toilets in a house I am renovating. The first one I had already wasted hours on with bleach, scourers and even a brillo pad, but to no avail. This kit was actually my final resouce and I had not expected it to work. I emptied the toilet as far as I could with a small scoop and then poured in half the bottle. After half an hour you could literally see the dirt and limescale lifting off the side of the pan. It came off in such huge strips that I just used a blunt kitchen knife to flake it away in sheets and then used the pad to remove about 10% residue that also came off brilliantly. The second toilet I used it on was in even worse condition and the product worked just as well. It also has no strong chemical smell. Brilliant stuff and highly recommended - my only other option had been going to be replacing the toilets.
