TAMIYA, 300078029-1:350 US Battleship BB-63 Missouri ('91), TM78029

Once again, Tamiya proves to be one of the best, if not the best, model maker available. The quality is readily apparent on opening the box. I have only just started to build the ship, so this is as far as I can comment. However, if the initial impression is anything to go by, this will be another most excellent kit from Tamiya. The kit was received from the supplier in first-class condition and in good time.

I have to give it five stars because the parts were clean and fitted perfectly. But the instructions were abysmal. Parts not used were only listed at the back, and gave rise to much head scratching. Steps were a bit haphazard. All over the place . Completing one stage when it was discovered that a step had been overlooked and should have been done a step or two earlier. Annoying, but got there in the end. A good looking ship.

Although I have not started to build this ship yet (being involved with the Tamiya Yamato) I have looked inside and everything appears perfect. As always, Tamiya have done a wonderful job with the box itself giving me every confidence that the model is going to be just as good when completed. I can recommend all of the Tamiya Battleships having built the Bismarck and Tirpitz.

This a large and highly detailed model and typical of many Tamiya kits. Well presented and looks great though some issues with the poor instruction manual and seem to have lots of duplicate parts. Personally I didn't get on with the photo etch parts particularly the radar and antenna as the parts are so microscopic even with my magnifier I struggled to assemble. This is the first battleship I have built. I am happy with the results, but would change some build steps if I had the chance to make again.

It's Tamiya and perfect in every way. Why buy anything else.

First buy from India. Appreciate the details and specifications as mentioned received as same. Really loved while assembling it although it took 4 days but it was fun. Thankyou Tamiya for this wonderful kit. Looking absolute amazing in home. Looking forward to buy more kits of large sizes than this.

This Tamiya model kit of the USS Missouri really stands out in quality. Things that set this kit apart from others is the fact that there are photo etched metal parts included to add realism. This includes the main radar antenna, doors, front and hear disc cone antenna assemblies as well as fences for the helicopter landing pad. Other fences and railings are not included but can probably be purchased separately. I have found the plastic molding always to be of superb quality in Tamiya kits and this one is no different. Sure there are some small pieces but nothing seems flimsy or like it will break if you simply touch it. The entire hull is one piece, which is very nice because you will not have to deal with that gap along the entire length of the ship if it were made out two pieces. Most parts fit nicely together but on some bigger pieces you might have to bend them slightly before applying adhesive. This applies to the main deck parts, which are longer and the plastic might not fit the contours of the hull perfectly. But since these are longer pieces you can apply some pressure to bend them slightly so that it all lines up. The kit comes with two helicopters and, as in all Tamiya models, with a very detailed set of instructions. Bear in mind that this is quite a challenging kit because of the number of parts and the amount of detail you have to pay attention to when painting. To get good clean lines you are going to have to do a lot of taping. Use high quality modeling masking tape and take your time with it. The results will be well worth the effort. I picked up this kit at $80 which is a phenomenal price. The local hobby store sells the same kit for close to $180.
