Want/need a Dremel and don't need battery powered? Buy this instead
I have always found mini-drills to be incredibly helpful tools. The number of jobs that they can undertake is immense, from drilling to polishing to grinding etc. For a number of years, I had made do with a basic cheap generic chinese unbranded mini-drill - I cannot even remember where I bought it from...but it was definitely cheap. The other thing it was, was gutless. Once a bit of torque was required, it would grind to a halt. I decided I needed a better drill and I pretty much assumed that it was going to be a Dremel. Then I found this item and read the reviews for it....then I looked at the price. For the considerable saving, it seemed worth a punt. Well I have had this drill for about a year now and in that time it has been worked hard. From grinding down sharp metal edges, pilot drilling wood and pretty much stripping all of the paint on the uprights on our stairwell bannisters - it has performed reliably and well. The only down point, is the low quality extras that came with it but do you know what, wear them out (which won't take long) and then buy Dremel bits. That is the one area where Dremel is definitely best. But for the actual drill, there is no point buying a Dremel - this drill is easily as good and considerably cheaper.

A Great bit of kit for the money.
I bought the Hispec rotary tool after trying the Tacklife one that was faulty. The Advert shows the tool as hispec but mine says Apollo on it and Hi Spec on the box. As you will know this tool does not come with a Case, but comes with a selection of bits. The tool feels good to hold with some weight to it, its a good bit of kit (I like it) Since picking this 170w Apollo up, I bought the Dremel 4000. The thread on the two are not the same where the nut type thing that hold the Collet in place. The Dremel one is a few mill smaller, but I tried the Dremel flexy drive on it and it works just fine. The Bigger threaded PART IS ABOUT THE SAME ON BOTH DEVICES, So are interchangeable. The Dremel comes with a screw on bit with a square in it, to mount the inner part of the drive. With the Apollo I just but the square drive into the collet and nipped it up, it work fine. I am not sure how well it would do under heavy load, as there is a possibility of it slipping. To be fair for me it works just fine, I have no Complaints at all. Well worth the money....

It works just fine . . . but
My first go at using a tool like this and from my inexperienced point of view I find it 'bitty' and probably should have purchased something a little more robust or just researched things I could have attached to my drill - that's the reason for a 4. For all those craftspeople out there who are into polishing stones or metal or making things and can specifically use this type of tool, I think this Hi-Spec tool is very good value, pretty good quality and seems sturdy - so in terms of value it's a good buy - so if I was a craftsperson I would give it a 4 as some of the attachments such as the sanding discs are bitty and too flexible and slide around too much. I used it to grind into a fibreglass section of a boat where there was limited manoeuvring room and it did the job. Too much pressure, too fast or too tight the disc will shatter but after a few goes I learned how to use it - a craftsperson would probably already know this so if that's not you I don't recommend it - find a drill bit attachment instead. The summary is: a good quality tool for the money; some of the attachments not the greatest; buy it if you are looking specifically for a tool like this

get for the unit if you need to replace Dremel
IF you have loads of decent Dremel bits but don't wish to replace your expensive unit, this is a good buy. The tool itself is decent and works well enough will Dremel bits. The bits that come with this are shockingly terrible (hence the price) so if you're buying from scratch you will need to buy the Dremel bits you require separately to get the job done. That probably works out cheaper I guess??

Very handy for unexpected bits.
It's good value and is the type of tool that will always be there for bits you didn't think of. I've used it with a cutting tool (they don't last long) a tiny drill bit and a grinder, the latter used to widen the rectangular hole in the metal place for a door latch which didn't quite line up.

Great but needs better instructions for crafters etc
Lovely and quiet, solid, doesn't vibrate too much. Nice tool. However it's pointless having all the accessories without information about what bit does what. Have looked at the user manual, videos and website but no helpful information there. Although I did get an idea on how to use one of the accessories and what the spanner was for. Also, it's very fiddly. Bought it to scrape the paint from crevices in a dresser. When I finally guessed at what bit to use and how, I discovered that the sanding discs wear out after a few seconds. There are some black discs too, but no idea what they are for, and they snap in half when I put them on. They only lasted a few seconds too. Each time they wear out, you have to remove a microscopic screw, put a new disk in, and then start again. There was a wire type brush with it, I used it for a few seconds and then found the wood was going black. It turned out that the brush metal bristles had all worn off in a few seconds, and I had sharp bits in my clothes. There is no information on how far the spindle for the accessories have to go into the device, that is trial and error - which is dangerous because you end up with the metal accessories shooting off. If this is to be considered as a craft tool. the instructions need to be much clearer and a list included of the type of bit and what it can be used for. Needless to say, most of the paint is still in the crevices.

I picked this tool over others because 1 It looked right ,the ergonomics seemed spot on for size and shape and I was right. 2 It is Dremel compatible , and I have lots of Dremel bits and pieces as well as 2 Dremel tools set up for specific jobs .One is set up as a mini router , and an ancient ,single speed in the mini drill press and So because Amazon has a great return policy it was a no risk ,no brainer. Turned out really well ,fit my hand great, easy to control.plenty of power and the controls are right where they should be ,and work smoothly . 3 Comes with a USEFUL assortment of accessories ,no junk, no" fillers" and very decent box to keep it all together. For the price this is a really great deal.

Recently I found that my Dremel that I have only used for once, quit working. All the plans I had, but didn't get a chance to accomplish due to neverending long COVID, really bummed me out. I don't have the money to buy another one, so I decided to try buying this rotary tool and wasn't really expecting much power wise, considering it was so cheap, but I was in quite the hurry after transplanting one of my beloved plants and thankfully discovering early, that the pot I choose, didn't have any drain holes ( to this day I still can't understand what people are thinking when they make such a design flaw... Plants aren't meant to be waterlogged haha ) the shipping of this product was extremely fast and it fits all of my Dremel pieces that have been sitting here unused for the last few years which is a very nice surprise. The power this tool has, is excellent and very much exceeded my expectations. I have no complaints though I do have a suggestion for a new product upgrade. Maybe a switch that powers it on and off by touch ( like how a drill works ) instead of the off and on switch. I think that would be much much better. Other than that. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
