Beloved kayak lost in hurricane flood
I recently lost my beloved LL Bean kayak in a flood in western NC thanks to Hurricane Helene. The kayak was a Perception kayak very similar to this one. Same color too. It’s an excellent recreational use kayak that won’t set you back $1,000 plus a $115 shipping fee as a Prime Member. I feel sad I lost my precious kayak but look forward to making good memories with this one.

so much storage
i really wanted a touring kayak but didn't want to pay double to triple the cost. this kayak can do it all. has a drain plus, adjustable foot rest, super wide cockpit. but more importantly i can do storage behind the seat, and storage by the feet (so i plan to use it like a touring kayak). Unlike a touring kayak where storage by the feet is at max a 5 l drybag; in this kayak i am confident i could put a 20 l drybag cooler without any feet issue. what the kayak pics don't show is there is bungie straps at both the bow and stern that aren't shown (pics only show a single bungie by the cockpit organizer) so one less thing i need to do. weight wise it is the same as a single touring kayak or slightly lighter. i am a 5'1" female and can easily lift the kayak.only bad thing is no bulkhead to separate the cockpit from the bow or stern storage - perception does have a kayak that adds an aft bulkhead, but it adds 11 lbs to total kayak weight.

Kayak damaged when received.
We love this kayak for its thoughtful construction, light weight and stability (stability based on other's reviews, we haven't gotten it out on the water yet). The first kayak we ordered was received with some pretty hefty damage I can only imagine happened in shipping. The return process was a bit of a pain, but the new one arrived in good condition (the rear foam block was dislodged but I'm working on getting it back in place). I wish Amazon could have sent a new one without the third party return hassle, but I can understand with the awkward size and price why they can't. Overall we are very satisfied with this purchase.

Perception Flash ... life changes at every paddle!
This boat is delightful. Found it easy to paddle in and out of my Honda element it fits tight from the dashboard to the tailgate . lets just say it doesn't move at all ! Gave it 4 because I found the seat uncomfortable but I put my life vest behind me. I was going to return it .. they offered me a nice discount so I kept it. I took it out on a reservoir sunday and was very windy. Of course tracking sucks in the wind but was very controllable and fun. I love paddling into the wake of the wind waves! .. I appreciate the shelf in front for my water bottle. The foot rests could be a little sturdier they feel like they are going to break. I've paddled 5 times now. I just picked up a Perception Swifty used for a second boat on hand and it handles very similar but doesn't have the front deck to put things .. and I don't fish has no pole holes.I have to say I like kayaking. Also just picked up an old otter by Old Towne one of my other favorite kayaks. Currently I have a small fleet ...now lets get the weather to cooperate! Enjoy* be Safe* If you're not a seasoned paddler I wouldn't recommend going out in windy conditions . I happen to enjoy paddling hard! ps 73yr old female in Pennsylvania!

My first boat was delivered perfectly and on time
Very durable single molded construction. The solid handle is very sturdy and the back storage access is convenient. Seat is comfortable, cockpit has plenty of room and the foot rests are easy to adjust and sturdy. Very happy with my purchase, worth every dollar.

Poor QC
I have yet to use it yet, but it was full of scratches and plastic shavings. The paint job is a bit off as well

Best sit-in kayak for the money
As a newly active kayak paddler, the Perception Flash is good choice for me. Lightweight and easy to transport for one person. I am a fairly large adult and I fit comfortably in the seat and the adjustable foot stops are easy to adjust. One of the best features is the under-deck area for storage and additional leg room for those of us with bad knees. Having the adjustable seat back was a plus and a great simple design. It is just long enough that I can turn quickly in shallow waters with no problem. I use it on calm, coastal waters in Florida and it is wide enough that it doesn’t feel tippy. It fits nicely in my truck bed for hauling and I think the molded in handles make more sense when carrying it. This is a great value for leisure boaters like me.
