Yes. It helps you a lot.. And after a while you realise you've got stronger wrist and you don't use any cause this has been not only decreasing the pain but to keep the muscles together and strength them.

Q: Would these be suitable to use for escrima stick training, or would the fabric/thumb loops get in the way?

The loop that goes around your thumb is only to hold them in place until you get them around your wrists then you if you want you can take the loop of your thumb I use them for weight training first class job for the price.

Q: Are these suitable for women with small hands?

They'll be better for smaller hands and wrist. I got 7" wrist and tho they provide some support I'd prefer them longer.
