This book is a GEM. What stands out immediately is the writing. Oh my Goddess the writing! It's snarky and witty and informative and FUN. I seriously could not put it down! It's full of exercises that help you to decide where you stand ethically and morally before you attempt to do anything you may regret in the pursuit of magickal gains. I really can't stress enough just how important that is when conductive illusory magick. Not enough authors really prepare their readers for the results they can achieve and whether or not they are reeeaally sure that they have been careful about what they wished for.This book is dark and edgy and sexy, but it is also very practically and not merely some romanticized ideosophy of modern witchcraft and what one can accomplish with successful glamoury. It doesn't pull punches. It doesn't mince words. It hits you like a sucker punch to the gut and reminds you that everything comes with a price, and that you must weigh the cost before you cast. I love that. Not enough authors are brave enough to admit this fact of magick because it's not always popular, even if it's always true.I was so impressed with the way this book was written and laid out and the content far exceeded my expectations. It's really a workbook of sorts and in my opinion, a person would do well to purchase a notebook to go along with it for recording their experiences with many of the exercises.It one part instruction, one part information, and one part creative inspiration. It really gets you to THINK and to conspire to create your own magick rather than simply giving you some formulae to follow. It's raw and real and sooooo sensual. The cover is gorgeous enough to frame and put on the wall, and the principles contained within it will never be forgotten. I've been a witch for over 20 years and seen many, many books come and go, and this one just stands out like a completely different creature from your standard witchy book. Five very exuberant stars! A book apart!!

Don't let your preconceived notions of glamour fool you--this is a book which is about true empowerment in an imperfect world. Part magick, part philosophy, and part history, Deb gives you practical applications to wield power and live out your dreams. She reminds you that while life is not fair, you make your own opportunities and find the advantages you do have. You play up your strengths, empower yourself, and maximize your sphere of influence. Also, unlike many books on magick which read as a cookbook with a list of ingredients, Deb pulls you into her realm with vivid descriptions for a range of items which are most meaningful for you personally, which I found more motivating for getting down to doing the actual work. (Also, it's enjoyable to read!)Additionally, it's a book which acknowledges the stakes are higher in the world we're currently navigating, and it addresses the possibilities of failure in doing anything worth doing, as well as how to deal with it. This is not a book about ephemeral ideas and looking pretty; she respects that you're at the very least an experienced magickal practitioner and you're here to get stuff done. This is a book about personal responsibility and owning the outcomes of your life and your Great Work. As she states much more eloquently right from the get-go, glamour is about finding and using what you do have in order to fully actualize your life.

I really enjoyed reading this all the way through. I'm only just beginning to work through the exercises, but I have a clear idea of how they all build on each other, and I think it's going to lead to some powerful magic. I've noticed that as my life becomes settled and stable, I had kind of lost track of how to be witchy, since my life wasn't full of urgent issues that I felt the need to work magic on (emergency money spells, boss fix spells, that kind of thing). I didn't like being a pagan who is only a witch sometimes, as I have long identified as fully both a pagan and a witch. This book has given me a lot of ideas about how to magically support larger life goals, and also weave small magics into my day to day to make my life what I really want it to be at a few different levels. The structure is pretty agnostic, so it can work hand in hand with a variety of religious practices.So if, like me, you want to up your witchcraft game, this book is a good guideline to strategic application of magic.
