not for ceiling fans
these are low cost for ceiling lights and maybe a bathroom fan. perfect for new install and hard to secure in a existing ceiling unless you cut a larger hole......hopefully this is helpful to someone :)

These are so bad, I am actually impressed someone is still selling them
These are pretty flimsy. I ordered five, two of them would not tighten on the narrow runner. Turning them around the other way solved this problem, but since the other three would, I suspect a defect in manufacturing. Installation was okay, but they are not real sturdy, still lots of play after install. The real problem came while wiring. Running Romex through the box pulled it no matter what I did. Once this happened, the screws holding the box to the runners stripped, so there was no way to keep it in place. You could also rock the box side to side as the metal runners were flimsy. I am only installing flush LED fixtures in these, so the wall will hold them in place, but if you are putting a light fixture with any weight... definitely skip these. On a recent trip to Lowes... found similar, but sturdier boxes for about half the price.
