It was throwing sparks on the first attempt. These are high quality products that I would definitely recommend. I believe steel is very well made and I was surprised with the generous size of the flint. Even the jute tinder bag is very well made.

All the reviews that say this kit is crap...people need to learn how to properly strike a flint and steel. Is it “actual proper legitimate flint rock mined from the bowels of England”? I don’t know and don’t care. It makes tons of sparks if properly struck against a steel. People act like a rock and metal is a blood diamond or some crap.

Do your research. The steel is good... the flint can be good or shoddy. Develop your skills and abilities with flint & steel. The steel is well crafted. You starting a fire with it is based off the quality of the flint and your skill with the steel. When I first purchased this product but after a few days of use it was definitely user error.

I cannot speak to the longevity of this striker, but I have never used a flint and steel before and this thing threw hot sparks my first swing. Very easy to use. My biggest surprise though, is how huge the piece of(what I assume is) chert is. Most other listings for similar sets all seem to have tiny flints but this is huge. Pictures for reference

My son needed a kit to light a fire for a science class. He eventually got it lit with the tools but the flint isn't very good. Bought another kit on amazon and it works great. I think the flint is much better on the second kit.

It throws good sparks. Good size good steel, good stone in happy.

Well the striker is junk! Not high carbon steel. However i got a rather large good piece of flint and just use modified piece of old file as my striker. Dont waste your money! Buy a better brand from a reputable company

Sarebbe perfetto se la pietra fosse davvero selce, l’anello d’acciaio fa il suo lavoro ma bisogna procurarsi della selce (vera) o del quarzo di propria mano. La pietra in dotazione si “sgretola” è più di tutto non accende.

Super cool item for you outdoor enthusiasts. Nice construction on the steel and came with a big hunk of flint. Took some practice and watching a YouTube video but I got fire pretty quickly using my homemade char cloth

Purchased as a gift, so ideal as all in a hessian bag which looks great. Absolutely no idea as to quality of the product as it has not been used yet, but it looks well made and as if it will do the job!
