Great setup, easy to use, very affordable
We have had an Infant Optics DXR-5 for 3 years since our son was born. We have been pleased with it, though it was certainly nothing fancy. With the arrival of our second child, we decided we still wanted to have a camera for our son for another year and one for the new baby. We looked at just adding a camera to the DXR set up, but unfortunately, the model was old and finding a camera was ridiculously expensive, so much so that it made sense just to buy a whole new system. I did a lot of research and came upon this, which seemed like practically the only model that had 4 stars but also came with two cameras. I read a lot of the reviews and actually laughed at a lot of the negative ones. People don't seem to realize the price point at which this exists and you have to understand what you are going to get at such a point. Truthfully, this has way more features than we had before and we really don't even care to have. I want to be able to see our kids. Boom. That's it. But I suppose all the other features this comes with are neat, they just aren't really things we will use much. Most importantly, the cameras work well. If you are expecting some kind of 4k, HD type of set up, you are barking up the wrong tree here. Expect to pay hundreds of dollars. Who needs that stuff anyway? The quality of film from this camera is VERY GOOD and absolutely all you truly need. It blows away the DXR-5 we had. Like I said, we were pleased with that; it did what we needed it to do. But this picture is way better. It was really just a nice bonus. All the other features... I haven't played with a whole lot. The looping feature is great and perfect for what we need between two rooms. We have a split bed floor plan and pretty good size house. There are no issues with connectivity from a pretty good distance and through numerous walls. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of... the cameras in the rooms plug in and stay turned on, even if you turn off the main unit. Not a deal breaker by any means and you could always just unplug it. The other model we had gave you the ability to turn it off. No big deal and doesn't impact the value of this setup. My favorite thing? It does not impact your wifi. For the last two years we had to turn off the main unit once our son was asleep if we wanted to use the wifi. This one does not interrupt it at all. It was a very pleasant surprise... I was anticipating having to get a new router to help with issues. Now it is not necessary. If you need a basic two camera set up, stop looking and just get this one. As with many things I purchase, the only question I will have is... does it hold up over time? There is a one year warranty with this so it does buy us time. One more plus; customer service contacted us after we order and then after we received the product. Not a necessary thing but a very nice gesture to ensure our satisfaction with the product. I will update as needed and if necessary.

Very Good Deal
For the price this thing is awesome. I did have a problem with the item recently, but turns out that the customer service is so good with this company that I can't even knock a star off for that. The power button on the monitor actually broke and it wouldn't power on any more. I contacted customer service, explained the situation to them, and they sent me a new one no questions asked. With the new one, I'm going to be a little more ginger with the power button. I dismantled the old one after I knew I was getting a replacement and I found that the plastic inside the mechanical part of the button blew out the back. The spring purchase went with it and it wouldn't return any more. I was actually able to get the thing to fire up with a jumper wire, so there was nothing wrong with it except for the 200 lb gorilla at the business end of that button ham fisting it. The engineers at Babysense would do well to add a stop to the housing on this so that the button can't be pressed so far into the component on the board. As for the functionality before it broke, I can't complain. The image is clear, the volume is excellent, night vision is good. Range is also good and the battery life is quite long compared to two other monitors we've used. This unit was a replacement for a Lorex that had a laundry list of problems, and other than the lack of a couple of features like being able to pan the camera and remote WiFi viewing (which we never used BTW, and probably just served to create a security hole in our WiFi network), this unit compares well in functionality, and yes, in spite of the failure, reliability. That Lorex eventually got recalled because the batteries in the monitor would swell up and create a fire risk (Lithium is no joke when it burns), so for half its life I had just removed the battery and used it only plugged in to the wall until I found out about the recall which the company had failed to notify me of even though they had several interactions with us on warranty repairs. Since the Babysense came with a pair of cameras instead of just one and works just as good with the features we actually use, I think a quarter of the price is a hell of a deal on this thing. Couple all of this with the great customer service (Lorex was a nightmare to deal with too), I think you can't go wrong. Just don't squeeze that power button so hard like you want to when there's a baby in your arms exploding your eardrums ;).

Range is better than most monitors! LOVE the two cameras! Great affordable monitor.
I have two kids under two and I bought this with the two cameras and it works pretty well. Range: We live in a 2700 sq feet house. The range is BETTER than other monitors we have tried (infant optics blue one). The connections drops sometimes when we put it next to our phone or are at the other end of the house and there's a million walls and appliances it has to go through. Otherwise, we have no issues with dropping connection. The monitor will beep to let you know if the connection is dropped and it usually picks it back up within a second. This is the only con i have of the product. if the connection NEVER dropped I would LOVE it. The two cameras: One of the best features. The main monitor will rotate between the two cameras so I can see both kids in their own room from the master bedroom. Great image. Video attached! Image quality: If the room is dark, the image will appear in black and white. I can see if their eyes are open or closed even if their room is dark. If there is light in the room the image is in color. Great quality image overall, no complaints. Zoom: If the camera is able to capture the baby's whole body I can hit the zoom feature and it will zoom into her face The two way talk: I love this feature because if my toddler wakes up in the middle of the night I can say, "go back to sleep its still bed time" and she will! No need to get up!! The sound quality is awesome.

Works well, amazing customer service
This is a great unit. I ordered it initially because the pictures & reviews show a micro-usb charging port for the parent unit. My wife has a habit of leaving the monitor on, so the battery is often dead when it's needed. This would allow is to charge it anywhere around the house, where we have a myriad of cell phone chargers. But the unit I received had a round plug. I reached out to the manufacturer, and received a response immediately. They explained that this was a very recent change, based on customer feedback, and believed it would be more sturdy. They're probably right, but I really wanted the micro-usb charging port, and explained why. They still had some of those in stock, and were kind enough to ship me one of those parent units at no charge. So A++++ customer service. The system itself works great. We use the parent unit 2-3 rooms away, and have zero signal issues. The nightvision is fantastic, and the sound quality is great. We've had it a week or so now, and have absolutely no complaints. The only real downside is that the battery life sucks with the screen on, but that's true of all these units. But this has a great feature where if you tap the power button once it will turn the screen off and leave everything else on. Definitely a great feature, then the battery will last a long time. One small suggestion: A slightly heavier base for the camera would be helpful. I set something on it, but without that even tapping the power cable will re-point the camera.

Bit smaller than expected and not the best connection
***Update: We have now had the cameras for 19 days and maybe used them 5 times. I just plugged them in today again and now there is no audio on the monitor, only a high pitched noise. I have contacted the seller and will update if and when resolved. 19 days is not great quality for a system that isn't even used daily. Even at the $70 lightning deal rate, it's not worth it with the issues we've had since the beginning. Hopefully they will send a new system and this is just a faulty set?!*** I just received this yesterday and it shipped just as fast as it was supposed to. This set really is decent and affordable on a budget. The picture quality is decent. It is smaller than I expected but as small and portable as it is, it's not like it is difficult to just move it closer to your face to see. The microphone option is amazing and the kids like that I can talk to them through the monitor. The lullabyes are really really loud...I haven't figured out if those can be turned down yet. The cons that I have found so far are that one of the cameras keep malfunctioning. The screen keeps "blipping" and turning different colors, then it goes back to normal. The other camera seems to be working just fine and doesn't do that. These are definitely not wide angle cameras so if it is a big room, don't expect to catch all of it. We do have over sized bedrooms so that might not be an issue for most but for us, one camera only catches half of the room like tunnel vision almost. Like I said, that may be because our rooms are oversized. The next issue i'm having is the cameras and monitors losing connection. I have the monitor sitting in the same spot and the cameras aren't being moved and it will just suddenly lose connection for about half a minute, sometimes less, and then come back on. It has happened 3 times now just in the amount of time it has taken me to write this review and a couple times before but like I said, I just got this yesterday so probably not the best sign. I'm going to give it about a week and see how it all works out. If they continue to lose connection etc...or the one camera continues "blipping" (?) I will probably just send it back and find a different system. I will update with whatever we decide to do with it.

Works quite well for a little while
We found a Minilabo at a garage sale for $10. We couldn't believe how much better we liked having a video monitor and now that we have a 2 year old, it is saving us some big messes. The Minilabo seemed to be having some issues so we thought we would try to find the same one. As far as we can tell, it was either a knockoff of this Babysense one or Babysense bought them out. In any case, we got the one with 2 cameras since we now have 2 kids. Unfortunately it started having the same problems as the Minilabo almost immediately. The good: Decent picture for both night and day. You can zoom in. Good sound capabilities with 2 way communication. Plays music. Tells you a temperature. The bad: The lettering wore off almost immediately from the buttons. The field of view is quite narrow. The microphone doesn't always work. Sometimes you sound like a crazy alien and it scares the kids. There are 4 songs but 2 of them have notes off key, not a big deal if you don't care, but... the music has gotten quite strange sounding over time. Maybe the speaker is going out. The temperature has always read 5 degrees warmer than it actually is. I do think it seems to be relatively consistent though. The battery is dying and doesn't always hold a charge. The power/screen on/off button has now started to fail. We have had it a little over a year and already need to replace it. We will not be replacing it with the same brand.

Good purchase for us
After an issue with Amazon delivery (and no help from Amazon customer service), we finally received the product. Glad we re-purchased it after the order mysteriously went missing after it was out for delivery. At first I had the same issue as everyone else with the "waiting for connection" and I was afraid I was going to have to return it. My handy husband fixed the issue and showed me how it was trying to connect to the camera #2, which we had not set up yet. We recently moved to a new house with no internet yet (country life) and my toddlers room is across the house. I wanted something that I could hear if he woke up screaming and it has done its job perfectly. I have no issues with the picture quality. Although it is not the best and most clear, it does what I need it to do. I can see my child just fine. Sound works great. I love how it displays the temperature in the room. Once you get the hang of the controls, its easy to work. Battery life isnt the best, but I have it plugged into the charger most of the time since its just used at night for us. I would say it is a great option for someone who does not have wi-fi at their home and wants to hear their child. Will set up camera #2 in the playroom once we get it set up.

Ok but terribly designed for use with two cameras
We just took out the cameras (2), which were very easy to set up - they came pre-paired with the parent unit, and most everything seemed intuitive. We read the instructions anyway. Initially, it looked promising. There is a bit of static on the parent unit, regardless of a silent closed room down the hall - moderate white noise that can be heard far away. Not sure if it is supposed to be this loud or not. I don't mind it for sleeping, but I'm not yet sure how distracting it will be. It also turns out one of the two cameras consistently does not work in ECO mode. We tried re-pairing it with the instructions, and I even had my husband try to completely unpair the faulty camera (to no success). Working with two cameras is also an unexpected hassle. We're hoping to have one camera in one location (say a bedroom) and one in another (another room or parents' house), but the parent unit does not want to work properly unless both cameras are turned on and found at the same time. Then it auto-scans between them both. I don't want the parent unit's screen auto-flipping to a location where the baby is not. We're going to contact customer service to see what they can do about the faulty camera and the pairing. This item may end up being a return. Update: A representative returned our call and had us perform a pin needle reset on the new device. The lullaby setting (which would not work consistently before) now works. The temperature monitor (we compared it with several other thermometers right next to it) had been reading about 10-12 degrees higher and is now just a few degrees above what we expect. The other issues deal with the device not being able to cope equally with two cameras, which we learned is more of a flaw in the design. Summary: The device has moderately good performance, although I have only tested it once after resetting the unit to clear the lullaby and temperature issues. Two cameras pose problems for the parent unit by design: ECO mode, which is supposed to come on when activity is picked up, only works with ONE camera sensing at a time and CANNOT be used with two cameras simultaneously. I also tried unplugging the second camera to perhaps get rid of it and eliminate the confusion of only one camera sensor working at a time, and the system sort of malfunctions, since it expects two cameras. I found when using two cameras, say one in one bedroom and one in another bedroom/activity room, the parent unit must always be screen-on to monitor both camera locations, draining its few hours of battery and sending static over the parent unit. Annoying when sleeping or doing chores around different areas of the house. I don't understand why the design will not allow the parent unit to turn on when there is noise picked up on either camera. My husband yelled at camera one (the parent unit did not pick it up), but camera two came on when he went into the other bedroom and made noise in front of camera two. I'd hate to have a screaming child not responded to because of the design of this unit working with one camera and not both together. Perhaps parents should buy one camera if you like this model; two cameras DO NOT work well with this unit - I'm glad the representative cleared this up for me, because it seemed like a malfunction at first. He insisted it is working correctly, so big design flaw.
