Good speakers for the price
I like these Mackie speakers. They hold up well and sound good. The Altos I have heard and sound to much high end and run at 2 ohm. Poor quality the Altos. These Mackies are good for gigging in like ball rooms and banquet rooms. I run 4 of them and 2 subs. Plenty loud. I run sound for 35 years and solo act occasionally. Not for outside events. I use unpowered speakers for that.

Great Quality
This speaker sounds great. I do stand-up comedy at bars and small theatres the Mackie Thump215 works great, deep rich sound and plenty of volume.

Great 18" sub option for mobile DJ's
Compared to other 18" powered subwoofer, this is very compact, relatively lightweight, and plenty loud. The handles at the top make it very easy to move around. It doesn't have super fancy dsp, but some basic functions to change the sound a bit, but for the price it is great. I like to use a cardioid setup for large events, using 2x subwoofers and using some delay and polarity reversal (these features are not built-in). These are compact enough to run back-to-back cardioid for a compact setup that works surprisingly well. I also have a pair of LD Icoa 18A's which are louder, but much bigger, heavier, hard to move, and hard to transport when I'm by myself. The LDs do have a fancy built-in cardioid capability, but I love the Mackie 118s! The threaded pole mount is great. I would definitely recommend getting the slip covers to keep them from getting beat up.

These speakers rock!
I bought 2 of these mackie thump 15 inch speakers. They have a clear crisp sound with a good range of mids highs and lows They are not cheaply made but very durable. As a dj i feel they hold up well to the abuse of constantly being set up and taken down. Overall im very impressed with speaker quality and value.

Needs longer power Cord
I bought two of these to upgrade from the Pyle all in one set up I was using as I built up a rep as a djay. I have to say these are leaps and bounds beyond what I was using even though the Pyle system was sufficient for smaller indoor events and localized outdoor events. Pros: Light weight for the size and multiple place to carry from ( 2 handles & a lip on top) Sound is loud and clean even with bass heavy tracks. They look nice and have two 3 connection ports (1 xlr) Independent knobs to control levels of different channels. Cons: Power cables are really short

Powerful and Reliable Speaker for Any Event
The Mackie Thump212 is an outstanding powered speaker that delivers big sound. Sound Quality: Clear, loud, and deep bass—perfect for DJs, live events, or parties. Power: 1,400 watts provide plenty of volume for medium to large spaces. Durability: Rugged build that can handle frequent transport and tough conditions. Ease of Use: Simple controls and lightweight for a speaker this powerful. Versatility: Great for music, speeches, and more with multiple input options. Overall, it’s a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable and powerful speaker. Highly recommended for professionals and casual users alike!

I didn't think I'd like these but boy was I wrong
For starters I'm not a DJ. Sort of but not really. I used these to play music for my kids swim teams, to entertain the crowd while everyone is warming up, and we use them for announcing heats/events. I am however an audiophile. I did some research for non expensive speakers that I could use a few months out of the year, something that sounds good both indoors and out, and something that could be heard when we're talking or playing music. Needless to say these fit the bill. I got two of them, not knowing that one of them was really needed because of the power, but the 2nd speaker is an added bonus for the people a half mile away who want to hear what we're listening to. What I love is that you can connect these via either XLR or 1/4 from a mixer and it will still sound great. They're not really heavy either, the handles on the side help too. They're great when you put them on a dolly and don't move around or fall off. I also like that you don't even need a mixer to connect the speakers to a device and can go directly into them, and then XLR to the output to another speaker. The only con I can think of is the 6ft cables they give you, when have them on a speaker stand. I ended up buying 15ft cables so I don't have a surge protector hanging off of the speaker stand. But that's about it.

Great for being loud
I got a very good deal on these at $340 each, so it might affect my thoughts some. But they're excellent for parties and events where loud music is needed. We had a serious barn banger in August with just 2 of the 4 I bought and people are still talking about how awesome it was in December. They are only slightly less good at low-med volume, due to noise, if you dial it in with good gain staging. Otherwise they can rough at low volumes. That said, they're very clear for the price, and I love that. I ended up keeping 2 in the music studio and putting 2 in our basement bar. They work perfectly for karaoke and bar level music.
