French Army Tropical Pith Helmet in British Khaki

This is the real deal. I did not open it up under the lining but it feels like it is actually made of pith. It certainly looks authentic to me right down to a brass nut holding the top vent button on. This hat is not much more in cost than mesh look alikes but is much higher quality. I wish the chin strap was a little more robust but it works like the original. The hat arrived from England, appears made in Vietnam by a German compsny. This hat is not a toy but a real hat perfect for the hot sun.

High quality, this is exactly what I was looking for. Helmet is well-made, sturdy and adjustable. I used it for the first time this past weekend, and it kept my head cool and protected from the sun. The customer service is quite good as well. The only downside is that it took almost 2 months to arrive and there is no method for tracking. So if you don't mid the long lead-time, this is an excellent pith to have.

Got this hat for Halloween so I could have something as close as possible to a real Pith hat. The size ran rather small as it didn't function like a real pith hat but was still very much wearable. But the price was well worth it for a sturdy hat. The onyl real complaint I would have about the hat. Is the hat I received as an almost green-yellow hue to it; unlike the picture so it didn't quiet match any other tan clothing I had purchased for the costume.

Pleased with quality , being lightweight and coverage of brim.The fit is generic. The hat has adjustable strap for fit, yet not enough to work with, maybe 1/8”.

The general material core and covering seem to be good but I am an average sized man that would wear a 7 3/8 fitted baseball hat or 23 1/4 inch 59 cm circumference hat size. I can barely get my head in it and it pushes against the hat bowl. These head coverings are meant to be suspended so that air can circulate between your head and the hat to keep you cool and shaded. Because the hat is undersized it does not give enough shade nor allow sufficient air movement. Also does not have a chin strap only a decoration so likely to blow off in any wind..

Bought it as a joke for my wife and she actually started wearing it. Well, didn't take long and tried it myself. Incredible! What's good about it is lightweight, fabric covered like the real one, and the best part is it actually very cool on your head as there is only a comfortable band that touches your head. That leaves airflow all around the sides and top. Has a top vent that acts like a chimney and sucks the air through. Unlike a ball cap that get hot after a while, this keeps your head cool. I use it in my open Jeep and it doesn't blow off. Get lots of compliments. Adjustable band so it fits all sizes. Sprayed it with Scotchguard to keep the fabric nice in the rain. Bought a second one so we both can have our own. Best hat we've ever experienced. Why did the British army buy them for tropical climate. Buy one and find out.

I bought this 11 months ago. The hat is great, but the strap is flimsy and difficult to stay adjusted. Finally, it broke away from the hat (the hole in the strap that attached to the hat tore) and cannot be fixed. I am easy on my equipment, and in my opinion, if used to keep the hat on your head in a breeze, will not last as long for most people.

How did we go this long without a pith helmet. That's what I asked my wife one evening before making this purchase. Her answer was not your nuts, but rather get it!When buying a pith helmet, I wanted something of quality. Not too cheap looking, or poorly made. I also didn't want to spend top of the line money for absolute authenticity. This hat seems to straddle the line nicely. It is certainly not a throw-a-way. I expect to be exploring the wilds for quite some time. Cheerio my good man.
