It's still a great cooler and Avalon customer services is amazing!
Update (1 year after purchase): Just under a year, the water started dispensing slower and slower until it just wouldn't dispense. When I checked my warranty, it was just past the 1 year so I took my precious time in contacting Avalon and decided to fix or see what was wrong. After watching a few videos on their website and some others on YouTube, I opened the top, I saw that the water was frozen, so I thawed it and it started to work for 1-2 days and it froze again. I finally contacted Avalon to ask for assistance and hoped they knew what was wrong. Tyler H was such a huge help! He gave me instructions to do what I had already done so there wasn't anything else I could do. Tyler says that the water shouldn't freeze again and I explained that it did. I wasn't expecting a replacement since it's past the 1 year warranty. They sent me a box to return mine and shipped me a new one! I can't express my gratitude enough! We drink so much water (and it's so important), that when it wasn’t readily available, I had to use a small water filter which wasn't fun for 7 people in a home. I'm so glad I contacted Avalon because their customer service is superb! Tyler was great to work with and very responsive! We are once again a happy hydrated family! lol Update (6 months): now that we have to replace our filters, it hurts that it’s $100! Update: it’s been a couple of months and we still love it. One of the complaints we have is that the tray below is small. The cups/mugs sit on it fine but just having it slightly larger would have been nice. I feel like my kids drink more water now that we have this and it’s easily accessible for them. My husband complains it’s sorta loud but I didn’t think so. It has a cooler so it sounds like a fridge kinda. Doesn’t bother me. Original: My husband and I put this together so imagine me reading the instructions and him trying to “wing it” as usual ha-ha. Aside from that, it wasn’t too bad to install. We did have to drill a hole in our cabinets to run the (small) hose through to the sink. The manual was sort of helpful but the photos were not great and hard to see and it could have explained things better but we figured it out. The cold water is cold, room temperature is cooler and the hot water is pretty hot and will great for tea, instant oatmeal and Cup-O-Noodles! As far as value, it’s not like I buy these things often (first one) so I don’t know but it seemed reasonably priced.

Do not buy!!!! They got me twice, garbage.
Bought 1st water cooler in 2021, after 18 months the cooler started to freeze, no dispensing water at all, after 2 weeks of emails with customer service and numerous troubleshooting actions (open the cooler, clean the cooler, plug and unplug, delaying tactics), they decided it was a "technical issue" but infortunatelly for me, it was out of the 1 year warranty, so they offer me a $50 coupon and the promess it won't happen again. In 2023, beleiving these people, I bought the second cooler, directly to them, since the coupon doesn’t apply to amazon purchases, 18 months later, guess what, it is freezing again. I called and they said the same exactly script from the first cooler. End of the story, 2 coolers and $500 later, I have no cooler, this is garbage and salespersons are misleading customers to buy this coolers knowingly that they are not going to work after certain ammount of time. STAY AWAY. DO NOT BUY. SAVE TIME AND MONEY. Best Bottleless water cooler!!
I bought my unit as a used/very good condition - but after opening up the repackaged box the unit was still new and it even came with extra filters which was a plus+++. The filters are $90.99. I've been using it since beginning of Feb 2019 and today is nearing the end of Sept 2020 with no issues. Filters need changing few months back but the water keeps coming out :) The taste of the water isn't bad but need more filtering for the best tasting water. I added Frizzlife 3 stage under sink filter system and water is GREAT now! If you tired of lugging 3 or 5gal water bottles as i have been for over 20yrs with my last water cooler this is the unit to buy as i didn't want to rent someone else's unit. If i have anything to say bad/negative is that the water comes out a little slower than my old cooler. You do have the option of turning off the hot water tap in case your afraid of a child pushing the hot water button (the button does have a lock on it but isn't hard to slide and push) and burning themselves or wasting electricity keeping water hot for nothing. You won't be disappointed. Buy It!!! I paid $201.88 used/reboxed and now it $199.99 brand new :) so the price has come down!!! Thank you for reading my review!

Love having instant filtered hot and cold water!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This is our third water cooler and our second Avalon water cooler. We had our previous Avalon cooler for over four years before the cold water spigot stopped working. Based on online videos, a handy person probably could have fixed it. Averaging the price of the cooler over four plus years makes this s great investment. We have a direct water hookup and we love the bottleless cooler. It comes with all the hookup parts and was easy to attach to the water source. The cooler is much easier than filling up pitchers and changing filters. There are two filters to change every six months, but they are easy to exchange. Averaging the price over four plus years makes this s great investment. The availability of having instant cold and hot water is a wonderful convenience. The base is not included, but it certainly raises the spigot to a better height. We were able to keep and reuse our base for our new cooler. I would recommend it.

Good, but could use improvements
Overall, I'm giving this 4 stars. I'd give it 3 1/2 if it were possible. Positives:: Easy installation. It's simple if you don't have to jump through hoops on running the water line. We placed ours about 7 feet from our sink, so we had to drill holes through the insides of our cabinets in order to run the water line to our cooler location. Simple enough, however. Took us about 20 minutes. Does it's job...mostly. If your goal is to eliminate bottled water, then this is for you. We were going through a 40 bottle case of water a week. This has allowed us to eliminate the need of stock piling cases of water. (See my cons, below, for taste quality) Cons: (I'm going to be a bit critical here since I paid $274.99 for my cooler and feel that for the price, there should be some improvements.) Taste quality - The taste is acceptable since it's meeting our goal of eliminating bottled water purchases. However, in my opinion, the taste doesn't measure up with bottled water taste. I still feel like I taste a bit of "faucet water" to it. The taste also doesn't compare to my parents' built in reverse osmosis water system. That will be a future purchase for me, despite having this cooler. Filling area - We use ours largely for our Sparkling water addiction. If you own a sodastream or similar, you're aware of the width of those bottles. The filling area on this cooler is not quite wide enough to place a sodastream bottle in it. In order to fill the bottle, you need tilt it a bit since it's too wide to sit flat under the spout. Water flow - I would like it to be able to pour faster. For small fills, it's fine. However, if you're looking to fill a jug or something large, it will take longer than you feel like standing there for. Manual fill only - There is no option to push a button and stand back while it fills your device. This would help with the lack of water flow. However, the only option is to hold down the button the entire time it's filling. This is irritating when you're looking to fill a larger item. Water temperature - While the water does come out cold, it isn't as cold as taking a bottle of water out of your refrigerator. It would be nice to have a temperature gauge option so that you can make it colder, if desired. Filter cost - I've only had ours for 2 months, so we're still using the original filters. However, replacement filters are quite expensive and certainly cut down any cost savings that you're getting out of this by eliminating bottles.

DO NOT BUY!!! NOT SELF CLEANING!!! Customer Service will Lie to you, THEY DON'T CARE IF YOUR OLD!!!
I purchased this Unit 11 months ago as a Birthday Present for my Wife. About a week ago the Unit's Cold Side FROZE UP. We unplugged it a couple of times. Kept it unplugged for over 24 hours and the unit would work for a day, then Froze Up again. We called Customer Service spoke to "Dan" about about 30 min of arguing with us he finally agreed to send out a replacement. Apparently it is NOT SELF CLEANING. Even though the Amazon webpage claims that it is. You WILL BE Required to Tear into the unit every 3-6 months and literally clean the unit from the inside out. This of course was Not mentioned at the time we purchased this unit for my wife's Birthday Present last February. Then "lee" the customer service rep said we will have to cut the cord and email picture proving we had cut it as well as proof of purchase. No problem we did that and would have been happy to forward a picture showing cord was cut. Then we received an email from "Dan" stating that NOW we will be REQUIRED to break into the unit and pop open a thing and see if it was Frozen. If it was, let it stand for 72 hours, then advise them of such. This was NOT mentioned at the initial conversation with "Dan". We then sent an emailing complaining about being mislead "LIED TO". Afterwards we received a call form his Supervisor "Jill". She was Extremely Rudd and Refused to help us with this issue. Apparently, we were STUPID IN PURCHASING THIS UNIT THINKING THAT IT WAS SELF CLEANING. If we would have opened the Warranty and Manual PDF's at the bottom of the Amazon Advertising page we would have been informed that it was truly NOT "Self Cleaning". This was our fault for being Stupid Customers and Apparently EVERYBODY except me and my wife will be smart enough to do there homework ahead of time before purchasing. This according to "The Supervisor in Charge" Failure to perform the Required Maintenance, BREAK INTO the Unit, TEAR it apart. WILL RESULT IN "NO WARRANTY". This of course is the COMPLETE Opposite of how things generally work. In my day, if you broke into something, your Warranty would be VOID. NOT HERE, they want you to Tear It Apart... SO MY WIFE IS LEFT WITH "NO BIRTHDAY PRESENT" AND WE ARE LEFT WITHOUT A WATER COOLER. All thinks to "Dan, Jill and there Supervisor". All of which are some of the most uncooperating people I have come across. PLEASE NOTE: My wife and I are older people. Our health it not the greatest. When this was brought to there attention THEY DID NOT CARE. I was supposed to get someone to help with Tearing, Breaking and dismantling this unit to even have a chance to get it replaced. After of course being Lied to by "Dan" saying that they would be happy to send out replacement. At one point we were told if we did not own a screwdriver we should be willing to get into our car and go purchase one in order to do what was told. If we were Not able to do any of this because of Health Reasons we should be willing to get someone to come over and perform all of this for us. NO EXCUSES. THEY DIDN'T CARE!!!! All we wanted was for them to send replacement.. Especially since it was still supposed to be "UNDER WARRANTY"...

Easy to use and install.
Bought the older model during Covid to afraid to go out and refill our 5 gal at the store. Got this to prevent getting sick. Our original lasted until I got this one. Filter are expensive but worth it. No more loading 5 galling on the bottom. Clear visible light when it’s time to change the filters. Comes with first filter set and hose plus some additional fittings in case of damage.
