The Fabled Fourth Graders of Aesop Elementary School

As a Fourth grade teacher, I am constantly looking for good quality books to read to the class. This book is hilarious with funny little stories in each chapter about the cast of character and their teacher in this rambunctious 4th grade class. It' a good read not just for it's moral content (each chapter has a moral, much like an Aesops fable) but for how the teacher reponds to each child's unique differences. I really enjoy it and have read it to the class the last three years. The students remember each character and never want me to put it down once we start.

These fabled fourth graders at Aesop Elementary School have a lot to learn morally. I looked forward to reading each chapter to see what these uncanny students were going to get themselves into and what moral was to be learned, such as "It is wise to prepare today for the wants of tomorrow." or "Appearances aren't everything." The chapter titles sometimes related to the real "Aesop's Fables", such as, The Boy Who Cried Wolf Monitor. The characters made me chuckle, such as Miss Paige Turner (librarian), Hamilton, Ham for short, Samich (enjoys food), Victoria Sovaine (pretty), Stanford Binet (smart), and Mrs. Playwright (drama teacher). This is a chapter book that I think boys would enjoy because it briefly mentions yucky stuff like "cooties" and "poop"(Hey, as long as they are reading!). I loved it. It will be available in my classroom for character building and enjoyment reading.

I teach 4th grade. I think one of the most important things I do for my kids is to read to them. It models good reading, phrasing. It exposes them to books and writers they may not have explored on their own. I was looking for some new books to read aloud. I loved the title of this book. At first I was disappointed, but then it began to grow on me. It's not the best book I've found for reading aloud (Tale of Depereaux, Holes, HP book 3, are better written), but this book has its charm. I can use it to introduce or to enrich a unit on fables. I am sure my colleagues will enjoy the chapter about standardized testing So sometime this school year, my students will meet their peers from Aesop Elementary School.

The Fabled Fourth Graders of Aesop Elementary School is an extremely well done book. Each small story portrays a certain student and a moral. If you find the actual Aesop' s Fables boring, this may spark your interest in them. Not only does this book describe the characters extremely well, but the names reflect the personality of a certain student. For example a girl in this book named Victoria Sovaine, is obsessed with her beauty. A boy named Lenny Wittier is extremely witty. This book has up and down emotions, but each story will make you laugh at least once. I recommend this book to any age. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Read this at night with my 4th grader. Good book. Didn’t know there was a sequel got it on here as used but good. Bonus surprise when we got it the author had signed it

We were given the Fifth Graders book of this series as a gift and at one glance,I ordered up the Fourth Grader book for my son. Here's what he says: I rated this book book five stars because when i read it i could hardly stop laughing.I am also a fourth grader and this book reminds me of my class because it took us awhile to get used to our teacher.

I liked this book because of Mr. Jupiter's way of teaching his trouble making kids a lesson without shouting at them. I would like to have a teacher like him because he handled difficulties in the coolest way possible.

My fourth graders love this book! Even some of my more reluctant readers were drawn in, due to the humor!
