If anyone truly wants to steal it or anything they can, but they will need to take time to unscrew it.

Q: How many inches from the edge of door to the camera after mounted? My concern is my storm door may still block the camera.

Well to be honest I think it should depend on the thickness of the door or you can just drill it.
