These are most like original checkers, which have ridges. Originally they were wooden, then plastic molded with ridges. Now most checkers you buy are undersized and will not seat on top of each other for kings. CHECKERS should measure 1 1/4"-1 1/2". Other companies are making tiny boards and tiny "checkers." Those are no good for Kings, small hand/mouths or older players, people with grip issues such as arthritis. These measure 1.25" which is regulation size. If you want a really nice set, buy wood--but it will cost at least $100 for a nice set. My wallet won't permit that. These are great and safer for young children then mini checkers which can easily be swallowed. Happy Playing!! 👍

I was looking for checkers without a board that were (1) inexpensive and (2) stack tightly, to use in a mathematics classroom activity. These fit the bill: they are light and inexpensive plastic (but seem plenty sturdy) and the ridges are consistent so that they stack as high as you like and do not slide. As other reviewers have noted, they are not as brightly colored as the first image seems to indicate (although the second image of them, in the package, is pretty accurate), and the centers are flat rather than rounded. I measure them at 1.25 inches in diameter, which I think is smaller than some other checkers (at least, they look smaller than I remember -- I don't have other checkers to compare them to in front of me). However, they were just perfect for me!

kind of small but usable

The info says these checkers are 1 1/8 in., but their actual diameter is 1 1/4 in. (3.1 cm). I bought these for a checkerboard with 1 1/8 in. squares. These checkers are slightly larger than the squares, but for me it's not really an issue.
