These bars taste more or less like semisweet bars but not like Black Forrest cake.
I gave this item 1 star not because the quality is bad. It uses good quality chocolate, but it tastes nothing like Black Forrest cake, which accounts for my rating. The product claims to have a cherry flavor, as Black Forrest cake does, and, if I strain and make allowances, I might be able to taste just a hint of cherry flavor, but its so slight that this claim is not accurate. I haven't eaten a lot of semisweet chocolate and I haven't compared American to European chocolate with that description. This chocolate has a somewhat bitter flavor, compared to the small amount of American semisweet chocolate I've had but it may well be that European semisweet chocolate has or often has this bitter flavor. I am not criticizing that flavor nor rating the chocolate based on that, but only that it tastes nothing like Black Forrest cake. If you want to see if you like this more or less semisweet or perhaps bitter sweet might be a better description chocolate, you may be pleased with it.

Crunchy cherry dark chocolate - next best thing to a Black Forest cake
If you like dark chocolate and cherry combination you will love these. And there is no runny filling - the cherry bits are crunchy inside the chocolate. Excellent - I ordered a case of them.

They are my favorite.
Happy I was able to find them online. Perfect blend of cookie, chocolate and cherry flavor- very different but they are soo good. It was in the 70's the day they were delivered, luckily I was home and picked them up right away as they were left by the delivery company in the direct sunlight. They were all still hard and none of them melted.. I plan to share with friends since I ordered so many.
