This workbook adapts DBT skills to be more accessible and affirming for neurodivergent individuals, incorporating strategies for sensory needs and meltdown management. Review: Very helpful - Very helpful and written in an easy to understand straight forward way. Has helped me break down areas I’m struggling with and what can be done to help. Review: Very readable and usable - I felt the bio was a great start - it opened the book up as being produced by someone with direct experiences, appealing to me as a therapist and someone who daily personal experiences of neurodiversity. The book has been created in a user friendly way, and I get the design features (layout, font size, colour, space, uncomplicated messages etc) - making for a refreshing change. I read the book in a couple of hours, and now dip in to exercises when needed. It's not pretentious or academic over theorised with few suggestions, rather concepts are straight to the point, it references common issues faced, some psycho-education plus simple interventons. I'll be looking to see what else the author has written.

Helpful, accessible, visually pleasing, and useful.
I have found this book to be very useful, and gives you a chance not only to learn some new skills but also to learn more about yourself, and identify areas of your life you might not even be aware you are struggling with. Very easy to dip in and out of; you can spend as much time as you like on each exercise. Even five minutes is enough time for some parts. The book is also laid out in a very visually pleasing way (for me at least!). Pages are broken up by boxes, colours, headers etc, and each page deals with something different. No huge chunks of text to get lost in. Highly recommend, even for those who may not have any kind of neurodivergent diagnosis, or just think they may be slightly neurodivergent in some way. Very accessible and easy to use.

A couple of typos but a good workbook overall.
I purchased this workbook as I have the DBT skills workbook but find it hard to read and process a lot of text. This workbook is so clear and easy to read with colour coding, no images and simple writing. It resusces the cognitive load due to the simple fonts and simplified text. Similar to the decide skills but without images, lots of examples and easy to follow. Would recommend for anyone who is new to DBT or who can't read a lot of text and wants a simple easy to follow guide. The only reason I gave 4 stars is there are a couple of typos and this makes the workbook look unprofessional. But on the whole this is amazing for those who need to reduce visual stress when reading and need simple worksheets. Will suit all ages.

The Neurodivergent-Friendly DBT Workbook is an invaluable resource, offering clear explanations and engaging exercises tailored for neurodiverse individuals. Its accessible approach to DBT skills makes emotional regulation and mindfulness more approachable and effective. Highly recommended!

Recommend to my clients
I'll be honest. The author's bio put me off from the start - and I'm neurodivergent myself. However, I bought the book and was refreshingly surprised by it's readability and ease of access. More to the point as a therapist who doesn't specialise in DBT, I found that when I recommended it to clients, they were also keen and found it helpful. DBT has a bit of a reputation for being hard to comprehend, but this workbook is full of straight forward presentations of tools and tricks that can be used in the context of emotional overwhelm. I'd be curious about how others have experienced it, but my impression is that it's very much something where you can pick and choose what fits for you. I continue to recommend it to others for that reason.

Self Help DBT from an ND perspective
I’m an ND therapist, and I’m not a fan of behaviourist approaches generally. The book however provides a broad overview as a useful starting point to empower us to understand our needs as ND humans and start to develop our own individualised strategies. The workbook also recognises that the component of standard DBT that focuses on strategies for interpersonal effectiveness isn’t helpful for most ND people, so there’s a whole section on sensory needs and distress tolerance instead. The book uses Daniel Siegel’s Window of Tolerance concept which I’ve always used lots when I teach psycho-Ed with clients again to help with emotion regulation/managing overwhelm. Knowledge is power and I find that it’s a framework that makes sense to many clients to help them understand their strengths, sensitivities and triggers.

So good for neurodivergent people
I bought this book as my therapist recommended it and photocopied some pages out of it but I was struggling to read it in black and white because I’m autistic and dyslexic so it was hard to read so I purchased it myself. And it’s so easy to read and understand. It bring colour co-ordinated as well makes it so easy to quickly find the page you’re looking for. It makes DBT therapy more enjoyable and helps me engage in it fully. As I suffer from adhd as well so it’s easy for me to get bored of certain things but because it’s so positive it’s so easy to do

This book would be fantastic for someone who is either newly diagnosed & learning about themselves or has known for a long time but was never encouraged to explore their behaviours & triggers in a neurodiversity-affirming way. If you are someone who struggles with identifying things about yourself, the workbook contains lots of exercises with prompts to help you learn what to look for. It also contains several sections where you can create physical lists & plans which can help highlight areas where you may need more support/resources. Personally I ended up passing the book on to another autistic relative as it didn't necessarily teach me anything I didn't already know for myself, but it would be very beneficial to someone who requires a more logic based approach to finding out what their needs are and how best to accommodate them :)

The cover material is a bit odd (it's soft and velvety almost) but it's not too bad. It's a big book like you'd expect from a proper workbook. Some said it's like it's for children. I'm not a child, but this really works for me, the colours, the big spaces, the activities. I'm more incentivised to sit down and work on it and it's helped a great deal being an easier approach to DBT as the original one is too much/overwhelming to help me really. The spelling errors aren't that annoying, and overall I really love the book. I bought it around the same time as I bought an autism workbook because someone suggested this one too, and I'm so glad I got this one way more than the other one. I also found a PDF of this online that I looked through before buying it. It's way better for me to have the physical copy to work through. It seems very much geared towards autism than anything else. It's not particularly light in my opinion, but it's not a heavy/long book. I'm glad it isn't as I have disabilities that make it hard to lift a heavy book like many other autistic people with similar joint issues. Edit: I'm adding to my review after spending much more time using it. This is my favourite workbook. I'm writing this review because I'd like more people to make use of it. I ended up finding this book because I was searching for autism workbooks. This has been by far the most effective in being educational + being an actual workbook at the same time. I saw a review saying they felt it was designed for children. It is not. IMO, it should work well for anyone of any age and background as long as they can read at a basic level. For young elementary school children, they will need an adult guide. This is my first proper DBT workbook and so it works well as an introductory book for me. But that being said, I don't intend to look into DBT further at this time as this book provides more than enough for me to work on. Some reviews state (cannot recall verbatim) that it isn't traditionally DBT and has parts that are more about acceptance than realising and combating challenges. So I was worried it would be an enabling-toned type of book. I haven't figured out which part of the book is like that. I'm really glad it isn't like that, at least for me. It's relatively neutral and helpful in relaying the tools you'd need. I've found through several other purchases that these autism/ND workbooks usually have vast amounts of space and very little material in them. This book is a brilliant balance of both. I have less than 10 pages to work through at this stage and it's been helping my mental/emotional health. There are plenty of typos but none were so bad that I'd deduct a star, just not as clean and professional as I'm used to. The cover material is odd/uncommon, but I don't mind it. It's like a smooth silky type of texture that's cooling to touch. The paper is fine to use with regular felt tips and biros. I wrote on the inside of the back cover with a Sharpie and it bled through, which was a first for me. Otherwise, it's been working well as a workbook. The pastel colours on the cover and throughout the chapters are subtle and lovely to look at and soothing. But that's an entirely personal preference. For pages 5, 6, 23 etc., where there are boxes to fill in information that may change over time (values, needs etc), I used Post-It notes that fit quite nicely so that I can replace any notes if I need to. It has a meltdown dedicated portion, but no shutdowns. As I don't have those types of meltdowns per se and mostly have shutdowns, I just replaced some of the words myself. And skipped that portion a bit as it isn't relevant to me. As such, the workbook doesn't cover absolutely everything as it's for neurodivergents, not just people with autism and it doesn't cover every aspect of ASD obviously due to how vast and different symptoms and challenges can be. But it is definitely leaning towards worksheets that are helpful to those with ASD generally. I really love this workbook, and I hope it can help you as much as it helps me.
