Frontier Co-op Organic Cloves, Whole, 1-Pound Bulk, Organic Whole Cloves, Kosher, Pungent Warm Aroma, Bittersweet & Spicy

These organic whole cloves are incredibly fragrant and flavorful. I use 8 cloves and 8 soursop leaves to brew a parasite and cancer eliminating tea. U can also chew on 1 clove per day for optimal dental health and numbs a toothache. I also use them to make tinctures and beauty water. The only thing that i don’t love is that a pound of cloves will last forever and the bag they come in is not resealable. I fill a mason jar with the cloves and then have to tape the remaining cloves in the bag. However, I purchase different herbs from Frontier Co-Op and they are all always fresh, highly pungent and fragrant. Top tier organic quality.

Frontier has again proved that they (and Starwest Botanicals) are my go-to guys for spices and herbs. The cloves at the grocery store look like small stems with 4 prongs at the top. Cloves are dried flower buds, and inside those prongs there are supposed to be pale beige baby flower buds, with petals folded over each other like the petals of a rose bud. They contribute a lot to the flavor and medicinal properties of this spice. Easily 90% of my Frontier cloves had the flower bud portion intact. The grocery store stuff is missing the flower buds due to mishandling. And the fragrance!! When you open the bag it just fills the room...in fact I leave the open bag on the counter and toss it out the next morning, after I've transferred the cloves into airtight jars ( "and put them in a cool, dark place"...Bob Dylan). The foil bag they come in truly provides a great environment for spices & herbs to travel, but is not meant for home storage. A pound of cloves sounds like a lifetime supply to folks who only use them @ Christmas, but I use cloves, grated fresh ginger, whole allspice and cinnamon sticks in my teapot most mornings...they all are supposed to have anti-inflammatory and other properties that are helpful for the crippling arthritis that I inherited (thanks, Dad). And it makes the tea even more delicious, like a light version of Chai. (I used to add turmeric but now I take it in capsules, easier & more effective). Of course I checked prices and did all the math; since I am a Prime customer these worked out best for me. Plus I have never been anything but pleased with Frontier...their products are superior, the shipping is quick and, more important, well packaged and never damaged, and they never spam me to death. I am, once again, a happy customer, and so glad to have found a company that I can count on repeatedly.

Lovely cloves and we have found a few uses for these. They are good for toothaches and to put in the coffee grounds and we have used them to make a homemade toothpaste recipe and they give the coffee a wonderful flavor when added to the grounds and it is a large bag which is nice because we were able to give some away to someone who was having a toothache and even after a small jar broke, we still had plenty left over to make another small jar for the person to take with them. We still had plenty left over to put in the coffee grounds and for any upcoming uses that we haven't tried yet. They have a wonderful aroma and seem to be very fresh and give a delicious flavor to the coffee. We tried not using them in the coffee grounds and we missed the flavor so much so we started adding them again.

Whole organic cloves! As with most bulk items, I kind of expected some powder and broken pieces at the bottom of the bag. But, there was not much of either at all. Most of the cloves were still whole and not broken up. I have been buying products from Frontier for many years because they have many organic herbs and spices at good prices. I am always pleased with both the quality and price of Frontier products I have purchased. The cloves are packed in a sliver bag so no light can get through the bag and deteriorate the cloves. I use these in my daily chai. They are full of flavor and natural oils. Since they are whole cloves, they are easily strained from the chai in a regular strainer and I don't need cheesecloth. I drink chai daily to aid in digestion and as a warming tonic. I get most of the chai ingredients from Frontier. I use cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, black tea, and fresh ginger in my chai. Three of the five ingredients are from Frontier. Whole cloves can be used for things other than chai. For example, they can be used in pomanders with a whole orange or lemon, in a homemade potpourri, or on a glazed ham (with pineapple and brown sugar).

The cloves are quite fresh and whole. I haven’t seen any broken off bits at all. It’s worth the money
