I got this mat to use with my Roll A Cot XL camp cot. After reading several reviews of Thermarest mats etc. this one seemed to fit the bill for my camping needs. I wanted something that is warm and comfortable but was quick and easy to deflate and one that didn't take up a lot of space. This mat fills the bill just fine. It's well made and quiet ( a common complant for some of the Thermarest mats) and it self inflated to a comfortable thickness although I did add a couple of puffs of air the second night just to see how well it would firm up. It was also quick to deflate and roll up with the dual valves. After sleeping on it for a couple of nights, it proved to be very comfortable on the top of my Roll A Cot.For use directly on the ground you might want to go with a thicker mat, say a 4" mat but for use with a cot the 3" seems to be a great compromise to save both weight and space without giving up any comfort or warmth. I can't attest to it's durability yet but it seems to be very well made and it has a non slip surface both top and bottom.
