Bought this Philips 5400 Coffee machine during amazon Prime week. It has been truly oustanding compared with my old very much more expensive Miele built in coffee machine. Firstly there are 3 different heat levels, the hottest is properly hot. The size of the 5400 is ideal, not taking up too much surface space, the water tank holds a good amount and has a water filter. Setup was very easy and using my preferred L'Or brand whole coffee beans has produced the most wonderful coffees. Good value when on sale. Milk frother is great. Produces excellent range of coffees all selectable to taste and can be saved on different profiles to suit each person. Easy to clean. Milk container is detachable and can be kept in fridge. Top tips: 1. The loose red plastic part, found when first unpacked, is to indicate when the drip tray is full of water 2. The thin orange plastic part, between the two sections of the milk container, must be removed before using 3. Ensure you hear a distinct 'click' when putting the two parts of the milk container back together, the seal is important to avoid spills of milk

After having this machine for a week, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. It is a bit loud but I keep mine in the cupboard. We got cafe Nero beans to try it with and the coffee really tastes and looks like from a coffee shop! Love it! I would recommend getting some cheap beans to set the grinder right, because even tho the producer says the medium setting is good enough, we did adjust it slightly, and you should only do it while the machine is grinding. We binned 10 first coffees before we set it up properly, but that's was our choice. Also, the first coffee machine had to be sent back as it was leaking inside. Now, the user manual does not require checking the inside brewing compartment, it's not in the set up, and the YouTube video that we watched before we order it, said there's no need to touch anything BUT the part was not put inside properly. After checking the part with Amazon technician we wiggle a bit more with it and the leak has stopped. The next machine we got we knew we needed to take the compartment out and put it in again with a click sound to avoid the same thing happening. So if your waste bin is full of water, I would just take the brewing part out and put it in again properly. Do a few coffees to give the machine time to catch up to new adjustments before you give up. I think it's absolutely worth the effort as it's great quality coffee machine, easy to clean, that makes great selection of coffees.

I have been really enjoying the daily use of my Philips 5500 Bean to Cup machine. Two months in, still loving using this every day and maintenance so far has been minimal. The machine will let you know when it is time to empty the grounds, or the drip tray, or add more water. The container at the top seems reasonably air-tight to me, the beans smell fresh a couple of weeks after adding them. There is a bypass chute which is very handy if you want to use pre-ground coffee e.g. Someone may want some decaff, or a different type of coffee than the beans that are in the machine. I have enjoyed a hot coffee every time without having to worry about pre-heating the cup or the milk. The ability to fine-tune how much coffee is used, how much water or milk is added really allows a bespoke preference for anyone using this machine. There are 4 user profiles that can be saved for each of the 20 drink types. Very handy if there is more than one main coffee drinker using this. A 5th profile for guest users which allows for different people to drop by and have their own taste. The milk jug is great, enough for perhaps two milky drinks. It is small enough to be kept in the fridge if there is any left and because of the way milk gets sucked through, there is hardly any risk of spilling the milk. The machine comes with one AquaClean filter already provided. This slots into the bottom of the water jug. Very easy to install that and it says it may be around 5000 cups later before that needs changing. This helps keep the water fresh and clean, so no need to change the water daily. One small downside is that the machine asks to add more water even if there is visibly a reasonable amount left in the jug. A tiny quibble for an otherwise excellent machine.

Very happy with this machine since it makes good drinks + the drinks are very warm. All the drinks taste better than starbucks in my opinion. Easy to install, easy to clean and makes delicious drinks. Stronly recommended!
