Sprouted nuts from the Phillipines? Huh! It's delicious. No, REALLY!
What the heck is a Peel - ee - nut (Pili)? Close your eyes and plop one in your mouth. Feels cool on the tongue. Bite down and it feels like a soft white chocolate (rather than a hard dark chocolate). It breaks into little pieces immediately. Then, almost dissolved on your tongue like a foam on a head of beer. Then, you begin to taste it, kind of almost no taste at all, then you get a hint of macadamia but not exactly. Then, you squeeze your tongue to the roof of your mouth and you get remnants as if bits of coconut were transported by sleight of hand. Holy smokes what is this? Read on! This is a sprout of something grown in the Phillipines. I conjure up images of an Irish distillery roasting barley over smoke on the expanse of a whiskey barley cellar. I'm sure it doesn't look anything like a whiskey maker's factory. These look like someone (gross warning) pulled fingernails and created some kind of confectionary. It has the color of a light pale almond. Ok, so fool me once...as the saying goes! And this nut is filled to the brim with thiamin, magnesium & manganese. Isn't the USA dirt depleted of magnesium? Are we all magnesium deficient? Holy smokes, is this delicious or what? Buy it. Buy it now. Note that there is only 5 servings to a 5 oz bag...1 oz fits on the center of your palm.

I actually really love these but pretty expensive!
I'd never heard about pili nuts. I was just on Amazon looking for sprouted nuts when these popped up. What a find! They taste exactly like butter and are so rich, it's actually a struggle to eat the packet in one serving, I usually do it in 2 or 3 servings. These nuts are great if you're paleo, keto or any form of lchf (low carb high fat) because unlike most other nuts, they have virtually no carbs and are pretty much all fat. If you're none of paleo/keto/lchf but you have a sensitive stomach that is easily bothered by nuts, seeds, legumes etc, the fact that these are sprouted makes them VERY gentle on the digestion and that's what for me, makes them quite a find for snacking on when the late afternoon slump comes on at work. This would totally have been a 5 star purchase except for the price. They're REALLY expensive for the quantity you get and I understand why, it just doesn't change the fact that this isn't a sustainable snack habit. This is more of something you get as an occasional treat or something you have maybe once or twice a week, unless your snack budget runs pretty high.

Expensive but so yummy, perfect for keto diet
If you haven't tried these, do! These nuts are buttery and flavorful with a dash of salt. At first taste I wasn't sure I liked them, and for the price I really thought they should have more of a wow factor. But I've been surprised to find I reach for these nuts more than any other in the house! The package suggests keeping them in the fridge to help them last but I find that it does help boost the flavor as well. Their crisp coolness really helps the smooth flavor pop. I've tried other brands and found them bland, waxy or so heavy with the salt you can't taste the nut so I will stick with this brand. Just wish they weren't so pricey.

Yum!
So, I've tried Pili nuts before because I read that they are the best nut to eat for low carb/keto. They were forgettable. However, these Pili nuts are at a whole other level. They almost melt in your mouth and the flavor was awesome. For that I would give them a 5 and more if I could. I am a big snacker. I know, my bad, but I am. These really satisfy the need for something yummy. However, I cannot justify the cost and will prolly not buy again. I know nuts are always spendy but this is just too much (for me) to pay for something to just put in my mouth while being a slug watching tv. If you can control yourself and be satisfied with just a few nuts and want to try these, I would highly recommend. Or, if you're a Rockefeller type and can afford to spoil yourself you should totally get a case of these. I would if I was! They are amazing and I'm sad that I'm too cheap to spend the money.

No flavor and expensive.
Do you need teeth to eat these? No. They are quite soft and don't take much to break down. The texture is buttery. They have very little if any flavor other than maybe a grassy aftertaste. I even roasted them a little bit and that did not develop any flavor. They don't taste bad but they don't taste good so I will not buy them again.
