Look ๐ ok, smells ok, cat eats it
My cat will eat anything, so eats this. Lots of shredded chicken in a small amount of broth. Smells fine. Chicken might have been dried at one time, since itโs sometimes a bit hard & dry (chewy) even soaking in the broth so I cut the larger strands into smaller pieces w/culinary scissors before serving.

Excellent Quality, but calories might be higher than advertised
This is really good quality cat food. It's just chicken meat, soaking in chicken broth & sunflower seed oil. In a pinch you could probably mix in some mayonnaise and make a passable chicken salad sandwich with it. Good to have on hand in a pandemic. It's definitely not grade A chicken meat so it tends to be very stringy, but I view this as a positive b/c it forces my cat to chew it, not just inhale it. It's high protein, low fat, zero carb. It's expensive, but you can mix it with a lower priced pate-type food and bring up the quality of your cat's diet substantially. In fact, you'll probably need to mix it with your cat's existing food initially or they won't eat it b/c it's so different from just about every other cat food out there. My cat was skeptical at first, but not for long. There's one thing to be aware of though: I think the actual calorie count is higher than what's listed on the can. I adopted a very overweight adult cat, and I have been judiciously keeping him to 240 calories/day so he will slowly lose weight, and it was working until I incorporated this food into his diet. His weight loss stopped, then reversed. I did some research and AAFCO rates it as 82 cal/100g, but the can shows it as 79. That's a tiny difference - less than 5% - but it was enough to throw my furball's diet off kilter. I still feed it to him, but I've had to reduce the portion slightly.

My cats LOVE Tiki!
INGREDIENTS LIST. The MOST important information first. I've taken this directly from the Petropics' (the manufacturer) website. Ingredients: Chicken, Chicken Broth, Sunflower Seed Oil, Fish Oil. Vitamins/Minerals: Dicalcium Phosphate, Choline Chloride, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Sulfate Heptahydrate, Ferrous Sulfate Monohydrate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Nicotinic Acid (Vitamin B3), Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement. MACROS: 82% Protein, 12% Fat, 0% Carb "Grain free, Gravy free, Omega rich." There are absolutely zero 'filler' ingredients. Looking at the ingredients, you can see that Tiki only uses high quality foods that are actually healthy for felines. The chicken itself is shredded and submerged in a chicken watery broth that my cats love to lap up. It looks a lot more appealing than the brown mush that comprises most other canned cat food. Additionally, the macros for Tiki Succulent Chicken are fantastic -- EXACTLY what a cat's diet should be composed of. I weaned both of my cats off of EVO Chicken Formula dry food onto Tiki. I had previously thought that EVO kibble was a high-quality food, but both of my cats were gaining weight rapidly, even with strict portions. My veternarian said they were extremely overweight, and that I needed to put them on a different diet. After 5 months of Tiki, both are at normal weights, have a TON more energy, and are much better hydrated (less water bowl drinking!). This is the best quality cat food I have ever found, short from making raw food for your own cats which is an intensive process. The price is definitely a factor -- my two cats go through one case of Tiki in about 3-4 days. If you can afford Tiki, buy it over other canned foods.

Best quality, affordable
This is the highest quality food that I can afford for my 1 year old cat. She was just diagnosed with feline asthma. I have been doing my research to try to eliminate all possible causes for her symptoms and found out that fish can be a trigger for some cats. She has eaten mostly fish-based wet foods for her entire life. (This flavor does contain tuna fish oil... How that affects her is TBD.) If you look into the nutrition breakdown of cat foods, many grain-free chicken meals are very high in fat and lower in protein than the seafood based meals. This one is not. It is very high in protein, has a reasonably low amount of fat, and no carbs. That, along with the quality ingredients and cost is why I chose to feed this to my cat. This food is made in Thailand. The can specifically says "pet food only." About the black specks- I bought a few 2.8oz cans locally to try out before I bought this in bulk and they did have the specks. The 6oz cans I received today do not have any specks at all. (See photos.) Not sure if the issue has been resolved or if it only affected the smaller cans. (This might be common sense to many, but not something I thought of at first- when narrowing down food choices by price, keep in mind that the calories in foods per amount vary. I was feeding my cat Sheba Pate (a great widely available option!) However, she needed 3 cans of that per day and only needs one 6oz can of this to meet nutritional needs. In the end, the cost per day difference to feed this instead came down to pennies.)
