Little Mommy (Little Golden Book) Review: sweet, wholesome book - My 21 month old daughter brings this book to me constantly to read it to her, and it has fast become her very favorite book. The pictures are just beautiful, and I love the story. The little girl has obviously been trained well at the hand of a loving mommy, and the little girl is a wonderful "little mommy" herself. I would like to comment on some of the anti-little mommy reviews that I read on here. It seems that the main arguments are that this book teaches that women can only be home raising their children and that it shows mothers basically slaving and exhausting themselves when they are home. Um, yes, staying home and raising your children requires much work, and at times is exhausting, and I'm not going into the moral ramifications of allowing daycare workers, nannies, and preschool teachers to shape the morals of our children, rather than being home and shaping them ourselves, in this review. However, this book is a great depiction of what it is to truly mother your children. The girl HAPPILY takes up the work. She's not dreading each diaper change, dreading the housework, or the cooking, and when she goes to bed at night, though exhausted, she is smiling at her babies, and quite content with her lot. She takes her babies by her side as she works (obviously she learned this at her own mother's knee), and I personally love this depiction of a mommy's role. The book is called Little Mommy. It's not called Little Doctor, Little Lawyer, or Little CEO, and the book rightly depicts a Little Mommy. If you want a book showing little girls pretending to be doctors, lawyers, or CEO's, buy them. But to say that this book is limiting your daughter by showing her that girls can only do one thing is ridiculous. If you bought a book called "Little Lawyer," I doubt you'd be reviewing the book negatively because it shows that women can only be lawyers. Would you prefer the book to show the mother waking up frazzled in the morning, complaining about her husband, chasing the children out of the house because it's time for daycare, feeding them poptarts in the car because the mother has no time to cook for her familiy, talking on her cell phone while her children watch a DVD in the backseat on the way to day care, then leaving her children at daycare crying, screaming, and pitching a fit because they'd rather be with their mommy than left with a bunch of strangers? That's what the Little Mommies of today are learning that mothering is, but I doubt that a book depicting motherhood as it truly is today would be palatable to the mothers complaining about this book either. If you want a book that shows a loving mother HAPPILY taking care of her children, her home, and her husband, this book would be a lovely choice for your family. If you want a depiction of what your daughters are learning it means to be a modern little mommy, this book is not for you. If you want to give your daughter options as to different occupations, buy this book along with books that emphasize other occupations. Review: A Favorite! - This is one of my very favorite picture books. The illustrations are absolutely charming and it has such a sweet rhythmic flow that isn't tiresome to read again and again.

Little Classic (not woke)
Good grief - everyone calm down. Reviewers saying this book left them damaged - sweet mercy! Give me a break. This is a sweet OLDER book - and it's called Little MOMMY. MOMMY. If you want Little Welder or Little Stock Trader, go search that title. The book is sweet and loving and shows the many ways a mom can care for others (something I wish my own mom had done).

Wholesome, Sweet Book for Young Girls
My 2 1/2-year-old daughter LOVES this book. She brings it to me every day for me to read it to her. The story is simple and delightful: a little girl who is a mommy to her dolls. She does everything for her dolls that her mommy would do for her. She cleans the house, washes the clothes, cooks, takes care of a sick dolly, hosts her neighbor for a tea party, and puts her dolls to bed. The book is written in rhyming couplets that are easy and fun for a parent to read and a child to remember. My daughter has this book memorized and often sits "reading" it to herself. I would give this book 10 stars if I could. It is wholesome, sweet, and something a young child can easily relate to.

I love it. We read it every night
Really cute. My 4 y/o loves it. I love it. We read it every night. Don't read it or buy it if you will be "triggered" by the "microaggression" that the little girl takes care of her baby, while the little boy goes to work, to to take care of the "family." Not an acceptable way of life to teach your kids anymore according to today's standards. If, however, you can accept that some people live this way, then try this book. As a mom of 7 I'm here to tell you - that little girls like to play with baby dolls and most of them are hard-wired that way. And this book is just a sweet little story written by someone that clearly watched a little girl play with, and love her baby doll. My youngest girl loves reading a book in which a little girl plays just like she does..and she can say, "I do that!" My teenage girl loves reading it it her. Come to think of it...the five older brothers have all loved reading it to her too.

Little Mommy is my 2 year old's favourite book, without question. Although she has dozens of books available, she asks me to read this one to her several times each day. I think she enjoys it because of the gentle, rhyming text, and the sweet watercolour illustrations which depict a little girl playing with her dolls over the course of a day - taking them for a walk, bathing them, reading them stories, etc. In today's world people are so concerned about stereotypes that many people would avoid a book that shows a little girl playing with dolls. But this is a mistake, because little girls *do* love playing with dolls, which is why my little girl loves this book. For the record, she likes playing with her brothers' monster trucks and trains, too, but her dolls hold a special place in her heart, as does this book. For my part, I hold this book in high regard because it seems to show that the work traditionally done by Mommies - caring for babies and children, preparing them meals and cleaning their home - is worthwhile, appreciated, and even enjoyable work. I know it is just a simple children's book, but I really like how it depicts the "little mommy" as so busy and happy. Motherhood is indeed a wonderful, fulfilling career to embark upon, and it is well to give little girls this message, as these days it almost seems that motherhood is denigrated as something to avoid lest it interfere with a woman's "real" career.

I now know this book off by heart! Such a beautifully illustrated classic! My daughter has loved it since she was 8 months old. Of course it isn't great for gender equality but I have a diverse library for her so it shouldn't make an impact!

If you want to protect your daughter from modern feminist nonsense, this is a great book! It shows what it means to be a real mother rather than a childless corporate drone cat lady.
