These are great
Despite the pattern on the vernier which suggests you push off the battery cover with your thumb - you don’t - there’s a screw on the underside you must release then the battery cover comes off.

A nice tool that works
I got these calipers for measuring objects for designing 3d prints. The product itself seems to be good quality overall. They're easy to use and return to zero consistently without having to re-zero, so I trust the measurements I'm getting from the device. The only bad points were that the battery was dead when it arrived (a spare battery is supplied, so not too big a problems) and the instructions supplied with the unit were not for the model I received.Fortunately there are videos online for this model which show how to replace the battery (there is a screw recessed on the rear of the device that holds the battery door in place). For the price, I am happy with the device. But I fear it may drain the battery if left unused for a period of time.

No serial number - may be a deal breaker if purchased for business purposes.
Item fulfilled my expectations. However, there is no serial number attached. I've bought this to be used in the business and external company was not able to provide and get my item calibrated due to lack of the serial number that could be recorded for the traceability.Keep that in mind as in some cases this item can be used for the personal use only.Apart from that all good.

Very nice! Spare Battery too!
Come with a spare battery which is something extra that you don't expect nowadays.EDIT: This is an updated review based on changing the battery. To change the battery unscrew a screw at the back of the callipers. then slide the lid down. You will need to shake the callipers for the lid to fall off. Then you have to pull the battery out with sharp nosed pliers.Yes lots of complications to change the battery.

Absolute Garbage
Firstly I encountered the battery issue. The installed battery was dead so I attempted to remove the battery cover using the supplied screwdriver on the small hidden screw; the instructions show that cover is of the sliding variety, but it isn't it actually lifts up. I then proceeded to measure something only to discover the measurements were just garbage: a 250mm diameter came up as 160mm. When I moved the calliper to the visual 10mm on the ruler it said 4.5mm! My guess is that, since the battery was flat, it had been in storage some time and corrosion had built up somewhere on the measuring tracks ; Couldn't be bothered with the hassle of the returns process and I didn't buy as new for it to become a repair project so I threw it in the trash, where it belonged.

Changing the battery
To change the battery you need to undo the screw on the back of the calliper not to easy to see. But if you are looking at the back of it ,It is bottom left corner just below “whitworth 1”

How to access the battery?
Instructions are for a different calliper. It's not at all obvious how to remove the battery cover and the instructions don't help, but the unit comes with a screwdriver which is a subtle clue. tiny recessed and hard to spot screw on the opposite edge to the screw that secures the thumb wheel. Comes with a battery installed which is flat but has a spare included.its heavy and metal but I don't know if that's an advantage.
