Summer Infant Metal Banister & Stair Safety Baby Gate, 31'-46' Wide, 32.5' Tall, Banister & Wall Mount, Black

Super easy to put together & install. We have a metal rail as you can see so I needed something I could attach to the metal AND wall mount! It took me forever to find a gate with good reviews for TOP of stairs & came with the correct hardware! I'm so glad I finally found this. We have a 10 month old so this has been up for about 4 months now & it works great! Very sturdy so far, opens & shuts easily & with one hand. It does not close on its own so there was a little reminder period for our 13 year old to "Close the gate." But I have no complaints! This gate is PERFECT for us.

Exactly what we needed for the top of our stairs between two banisters. It was hard to find the perfect solution. I didn’t want a bar on the floor which could cause someone to trip, and needed something that could secure between the banisters (even without screws which is a major plus)! It is very secure against the banisters without any special adapters. You may have to adjust things a bit when expanding the gate width wise to have it fit perfectly but that was rather simple. The latch doesn’t seem super durable but it hasn’t posed any issues so far. This has worked well so far (for the dog and child) and I would buy it again.

I never leave reviews, or honestly ever complain but I feel like this warning/review is warranted. So many problems with this gate, not sure where to start. First off, the incorrect pieces of the gate were sent. The bottom latch was incorrect, and the screws for the one side are too short with the spacers. Had to find longer, safer screws. We finally got the correct bottom latch for the gate after calling and emailing multiple times, and after we re-secured the gate, the strap that goes on the banister will not stay closed, so the top of the gate wiggles. Definitely not safe by any means. I have tried to "fix" the gate with zip ties, extra pieces, you name it, and it is garbage. Waste of $100! Called customer service again, and there was nothing they could do - not even a replacement. Very disappointed....

We bought this baby gate last year and we're planning on putting it up once our newborn started crawling. It is about that time, so we pulled the box out of the basement closet where we had stored it-unopened- and went to put it together today. I like that it has several ways to attach it to a wall/banister, but it was missing 4 screws to attach where the gate snaps closed, and then the long screws included to attach to a wall weren't long enough if you used the bumper supports when trying to mount where a baseboard is. Luckily I had some spare screws that worked, because when my wife emailed the company asking for the actual missing screws, they simply said they don't have spare parts and recommended not using the product..... so, maybe just check you have all your parts prior to storing or installing it. Otherwise it seems to work fine.

Tried several solutions to keep my dogs contained within my patios to no avail. These are sturdy, easy to open/close, and lock in place. They also look good with my wrought iron railing. I secured them at the bottom of my deck stairs. Most importantly, they secure in place to my wrought iron rails without having to drill or otherwise modify my deck railing. The kit comes with hardware that solves most installation challenges.

I bought this because I built my home New Railings last year out of Brazilian Cherry (One of the hardest woods you can get) and did not want to drill holes is my Post. The strap system is working well after 2 days. I do feel that the straps would likely make impressions to a softer wood such as Pine or Alder. However.....I consider myself to be quite handy but had a lot of trouble getting the system installed. The instructions are not good at all and jump from partial install on page 3 to page 7 due to the different scenarios that are possible for this system. They should have used a few more sheets of paper and made the different scenarios complete for each and not jump around. My system was a little different in that it was Wall on one side and a Post on the other. My Post had base board as well as a trim piece towards the top and my Wall had baseboard. I ended up having to cut down the Post Side Gate mount 1.5" and the Wall Gate mount 4.5", Painting the tops and then moving the caps to the shortened Gate Mounts. If they had only added 2 additional Spacers this would not have been required for the Post side. (They only send 2 when there should be 4) This required Drilling a new hole for the Wall side Mount at the top. The screws included were not long enough to accommodate the Mount, with the Spacers, through the drywall to reach the stud so I had to use my own 3" screws. (2.5 would work but I did not have that size) This required re-drilling the holes to a larger size. The most flawed part is the poor design of the Gate Catches which kept falling out so I had to Drill holes in them as well as the Latch side Mount and use my own Metal Screws to keep them in place. The whole process took me 3.5 hours. NOT EASY.

This was a good find. We have black railings with dogs and multiple kids, so finding something that can hold up, match and be functional was not easy. So far so good but the only user error I would mention is do not over tighten the straps. I did it on multiple occasions thinking it would make it more sturdy but eventually I snapped them.

Works perfect! simple installation, solid construction, and safeguards children.

This has got to be one of the worst baby gates I have ever used. The product is made of cheap plastic. I’ve had to super glue some of the pieces on and the gate closes either on top or at the bottom, but not both ends. The system to tie to a banister also is not sturdy enough whatsoever, I’ve had to add tie wraps to it. Would stay away from this product. Very dissatisfied. I’ve had to buy another baby gate after a week of use because my 9 month old is already able to open the bottom part.

Barriere de bonne qualité, facile à installer avec l'option des sangles, solide une fois en place, beau look, simple à ouvrir et fermer. Jusqu'ici nous étions à 100% satisfaits, mais mon neveu de 14 mois à réussi à ouvrir la barrière en 1 seule visite!! Très dangereux puisque c'est le haut des escaliers. Nous devons trouver une solution pour prévenir que la barrière puisse être ouverte par un bambin qui se tient debout et marche...

Bien, mais mes escaliers ne sont pas exactement fait pour (c'est probablement un défaut de mes escaliers), mais j'ai réussi à l'installer malgré tout. Comme le problème venait de mes escaliers et non de la barrière, je mets 5 étoiles, même si l'installation n'est pas parfaite. Très bonne qualité et j'aime aussi les nombreuses "clip" pour sécuriser et empêcher mon neveu de l'ouvrir.
