Bring new life to old toys. Add sound effects to your models and model railroading simply and at little cost. I bought this to add a new dimension to a 50 year old toy submarine by adding a "Dive" and "General Quarters" alarms. Could be used just as easily at a model railroad station or depot to signal your passengers "All-Aboard!".Pros: Well Built, Good Sound Quality, Simple to Use, Relatively Small Size, Inexpensive vs other comparable solutions.Cons: You may need to have some mechanical know-how or be creative in your thinking regarding mounting solutions. May be a limiting factor in your decision making.While I gave the sound quality a "good" rating, it's not super. It may take 2 or 3 attempts to get the right recording level and output quality. How and where you hold the device while recording will make a big difference in the overall sound quality (garbage in, garbage out as they say). So the better the sound source and location of the device to the source will be dramatically different. My end result was very satisifying. I held the device as close to the source as possible without actually holding the device. I used the eraser-end of a pencil to depress the button to record and made sure the volume level at the source was adjusted to prevent distortion.The only other limitation is in your imagination's ability to find uses for this niffty little device.

Bought two sets from two different sellers. Photos were identical but items were not. The lower quality set was sold by "stuffems" and the better functioning set was sold by "inventiv". With china companies what you get is random and they all just use the same pictures.Our use: My daughter recorded segments from the halloween song from Nightmare Before Christmas on them. Then they put them under pumpkin painted plates on their Nightmare Before Christmas class decorated door. Batteries lasted really well. Kids pressed "pumpkin plates" to play them regularly while walking through the hall... probably over 100 times.The "stuffems" seller set worked fine but were "tinny sounding" and song was muffled. The "inventiv" set had much better sound quality. Since selling photos are the same... how do you tell them apart? The lower quality ones had 1.5cm sized play buttons and the better ones had 1/2 cm buttons. Obviously, buttons were not relevant to function... it was microphones. The recording microphones were just better on the "inventiv" sold ones.

This is almost exactly the product they use at Build-A-Bear which is just what I needed. I had ordered my son a Nemo plush for Christmas and wanted to record his dad's voice, who is deployed, onto it and put it in the Nemo doll so he could hear him when he hugs it. It was super easy to use and even though the message I recorded was playback from my phone (my husband had sent me a voicemail recording) it sounded just as good as when you do a recording in the store at Build-A-Bear. You just have to keep in mind that when you put it in the "Lock" position you HAVE to tape it place with scotch tape or something stronger because it is super easy for it slip out of the "Lock" position and you don't want your message erased. It's a great product though and I was so excited to find it (also cheaper than buying one from B-A-B...)

Does what it says on the tin, simple to use (press a recessed button to record, the main top button to play. No delay or feedback at start of recording makes it a little tricky to get right, but it works just fine with a few practices. Batteries are a standard button cell, but the device has to be carefully disassembled to access it. Better access to the battery and slight improvement to the recording function would make this 5 stars.Worthy of note is that this recorder is a bit on the quiet side -- it's probably not suitable for putting inside something like a stuffed animal, but since it's not advertised as such, I'm not docking the review.

Package arrived missing one of the two items. Merchant only referred me to Amazon since it was fulfilled by Amazon. No attempt was made to assist me. I have yet to find a way to report this to Amazon. They make it simple to order, return, leave feedback or review the product. Where is the "you screwed up my order" link? The product works great by the way. I just wish I had the two I ordered. I almost wish it was crappy so I could just return it and buy elswhere.

This product was really great and at a reasonable price too. My son doesn't speak yet but we are potty training him and used the button to create a message that said "bathroom". I then placed this inside a staples looking button. I hung it on the wall with a picture of a toilet and when my little guy wants to go potty he pushes the button to let us know. His preschool gave us this idea and it works great. Sound quality is good too, no complaints at all.

The item was as pictured. I bought it to lay inside of a clay seashell for my Ursula costume at halloween. There were actually two, which I didn't expect, so that was a nice surprise. It was a bit too big for my purpose, but it's an odd purpose so I don't fault the product at all. Only problem is he sound quality was so poor, the voice of Ariel singing was crackly and unrecognizable. Should have at least not had all the crackles.

These arrived on time, but when I opened up the package, I found that only one of them worked. The second must have some broken circuit or something, because the light doesn't go on and it doesn't record or play anything. Besides that, the quality of the playback is pretty low as well-- kind of a grainy crackly sound. I'm not too happy with this purchase.
