Beautifully flavoured coffee alternative
I have tried a number of alternatives to coffee - including pure chicory, chicory mixed with dry roasted figs and roasted barley. This drink is along the same lines, but with a different flavour of its own. I will say that it took a little while to get into it - the first few times I tried it I found it neither here nor there - not unpleasant but not something to write home about. The scent of the powder was distinctively smooth and pleasant though from the start - which is the main reason I kept on returning to it. After trying it a few times, I started to detect the subtler notes, and now I drink it regularly, alternating with chicory and barley drinks. I prepare it simply by adding a teaspoon full to a cup, and pouring boiling water on top and then mixing in some milk after letting it brew for a few minutes just with the water. This does leave the grounds at the bottom, which can be avoided by leaving the drink to settle between taking sips - or pouring through a strainer. Using a cafetiere would probably work even better, but I don't mind the grounds. The flavour is milder, not as bitter as chicory, but with richer tones. The price might seem a little high - but bear in mind when comparing that it is a 400g container - with most other similar drinks coming in 100g or 200g packaging.

It’s good and very bad all at once
This is a mixed review of the good and the bad.Good taste after milk and honey added. Similar to coffee but distinctly its own flavour. The label gives it away as Chinese bootleg and definitely not from Austria unless they suddenly decided to be an inefficient country. It leaves a sludge of woody bits in the bottom of your cup. (The same amount you teaspoon in) leaving me to wonder if it’s supposed to be made in a French press. But I suspect the Chinese manufacturer is just using cheep nasty ingredients.Would I put more that 1 spoon of this 5h173 in my body. OMG NO and why would IIt’s going back to Amazon with 2 teaspoons missing and a huge complaint to customer services. Ow for the worst bit. AMAZON exclude this from their returns policy. So you’re stuck with this cruddy stuff whilst Bezos makes money. Thanks Amazon you’ve lost a customer. My next online action is to cancel Prime bye…

Not Coffee but tasty
I like the taste a lot but Its basically a hazelnut flavoured hot chocolate. Mocha at best. Not really a coffee taste and has no froth like a premix sachet would have.

Caffeine free coffee substitute
The worst thing about this coffee substitute is that , like old fashioned tea, it leaves a large deposit in the bottom of the cup. It's taste is completely different from Barley Cup. So if you don't like the latter you can try the former.

Lovely smooth drink
I have been buying sachets of cappuccino recently but the price more than doubled so I looked for an alternative.I found this one which is a lot cheaper than the brand I was buying before and I prefer this one. It's a lovely smooth drink which is better for me than the popular make. I've just received my second tub and will continue to buy it

Not quite coffee-like
I was hoping for a caffeine-free, barley-based alternative to coffee, but this product doesn’t quite meet expectations. While it’s not necessarily unpleasant, it lacks the characteristic bitterness and doesn’t resemble a barley cup or similar options. The flavor seems to sit in its own category. Some may enjoy it, but for me, it’s a miss. As others have mentioned, it’s best used with a filter or a cafetiere, as it doesn’t dissolve.

Instantly regretted buying this
Could not get my usual Whole Earth brand so tried this instead. Tastes disgusting by comparison and lots of sludge left at the bottom plus a horrible ring around the inside of the cup once drank. Never again!
