HELPED MY FRENCHIE WITH ALLERGIES!
I wanted to wait a little while before writing this review to see if it was really going to help or not. My French Bulldog Maelee had been suffering from food allergies for the past couple years. We had went to the vet numerous times and she had to be given antibiotics and ear drops that she had to take on a weekly basis for maintenance to keep ear infections from returning. I did some research on my own, to figure out that recurring ear infections are often a sign of food allergies or intolerance. I switched her food a couple times, trying to steer away from Chicken and just change the protein and I didn't see a change until I switched to this food. Since this wasn't a typical limited ingredient diet, rather a specialty diet I thought it was worth a shot it being a little bit cheaper than some of the other options but quiet a bit more expensive than the Purina Beneful or Purina One SmartBlend. I had initially started out with Beneful then changed to Purina one Smartblend with chicken then switching to lamb and it was with those dog foods she was having the allergic reactions to. She would shake her head, scratch her ears, bite her feet, and rub against the furniture all the time like she was so miserable. She would scratch scabs in her ears and it absolutely broke my heart, I can’t take that!! I knew I had to do something and not let her suffer, she is my baby. The vet didn't mention allergies after the few times we kept taking her back for ear infections, but I'm a responsible pet owner and did the research myself to figure out the cause. (No offense to our vet he’s a wonderful doctor) If your dog is suffering from allergies this food is a really good choice and worth a try. While it may be a little pricey it is well worth the reward in your dog will be a lot happier and healthier. Since switching to this food, she is no longer itching, biting her feet and we have weaned off of the maintenance ear drops from the vet even. I couldn't be happier~! The quality of life when a dog has allergies has to be absolutely miserable. I was determined to keep switching, paying any amount of money to get my dog back to normal. We also tried the Zippy Paws Aller-Immune chews right around the same time we switched to this dog food, and I'm still giving her those as well. Some of the other reviewers said there were bugs in this dog food. There were no bugs in our bag of dog food and Salmon is the first ingredient. Reading the list of ingredients is a lot better compared to some of the other dog food brands in this category. I couldn't recommend this dog food enough, and I'll continue to dish the money out each month to give it to my dog if that means she doesn't have to suffer from itchy skin and ear infections. If your on the fence about buying this because of all the negative reviews regarding bugs, I inspected my bag thoroughly and there were NO BUGS! Also Purina has very good quality control and I am loyal to this brand. **UPDATE** 09/27/2022 My Frenchie has had to go back to the maintenance ear drops from the vet. It’s luckily just a call in prescription no longer requiring an exam every time but she does have to take them again. I don’t think it’s anything to do with her diet anymore rather environmental allergies on top of the protein sensitivity. This food is still working great for her. When the ear infection returned we decided to switch to Hills prescription diet d/d salmon formula, buying it from our local vet and was a lot more expensive than this food. We kept her on that for months but no change in her ears so we switched back to this. I’m still happy with this food and know it’s made her allergies a lot better. There’s just unfortunately not much you can do for environmental allergies besides allergy medicine to help from the vet. We limit her treats and try to stick with single ingredient freeze dried salmon. She’s my life and I would do anything for her. Hope this helps other dogs with food sensitivities feel better too!! Best food for sensitive pups
Quality dog food that my dog loves! We went from dog food brand to dog food brand looking for a solution for my dog that has had skin and digestive issues. This dog food is nutritious at an effective price point. No complaints from Pepper! The large bag last about a month and auto-reorder makes food a no brainer. Love it!

Gentle on the Belly, Tasty Enough for Picky Dogs
My dog has a sensitive stomach and this stuff works great. No upset tummy, no itching, and he actually eats it without turning his nose up. The salmon and rice mix smells decent (for dog food) and the texture is smooth—easy to mix with kibble or serve on its own. The portions are just right for one meal, and the pack lasts a good while. I like that it’s made for skin and stomach issues but still has real ingredients. If your pup needs something gentle but still tasty, this is a solid pick.

Great dog food for sensitive stomach & picky eaters!
Nov. 2025 UPDATE.... this food is amazing for my 10yr old Siberian Husky & 17 mo puppy! It is great alternative a few times a week with their digestive issues! I highly recommend this food for dogs with digestive issues, gas & diarrhea! My dogs have been using this food for the last 60 days with great results! I NEVER had a dog that was a picky eater until I got a red field golden retriever! All my other dogs were gobblers! My 15mos old red field golden retriever has a sensitive stomach & picky eater since she was 3mos old. I have tried many different brands of sensitive dog food in the past year; she loves this combination! I even tried Blue Buffalo Blissful Belly, Fresh Pet & Farmers dog; she walked away from the food? So far Purina Pro Plan Sensitive stomach dry & wet food are my girl's favorite... when she does decide to eat. Perhaps it is the seafood base?

Only food poodles can tolerate without getting runny stools.
This is the only mixture that both of my standard poodles can tolerate without getting runny stools. I’ve tried top of the line (very expensive) foods and they didn’t tolerate those either. I have started making rice, vegetables and beef each week and adding it to their meals along side of sensitive purina to give them some variety. I gave 4 stars because the price is getting ridiculous.

A good choice for my pups
We have two dogs, both with sensitive tummies and one with dry skin and allergies. After trying several kibbles on the market, this is our go-to for both. They tolerate it well and seem to enjoy it. Purina Pro Plan products also are known for quality ingredients and nutritional profiles (my vet told me she feeds it to her own dogs). This is a solid kibble for sensitive tummies and skin that does not require a prescription.

Picky eater, but loves it!
My dog loves it! She has had sensitive skin and stomach since she was a puppy. She has tried a Variety of foods, but nothing helped. We even tried a variety of medicines and all that, but same. Then I was watching the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge and one of the hostess mentioned their Sensitive Skin and Stomach Hard Food. I was skeptical, but tried it and it made a difference! She still has issues with her stomach and overall health, but thanks to this she doesn't have an upset stomach as much as she did. Definitely worth it for the price.

My standard poodle really likes this
My boy dog is a fussy eater. He always has been; wouldn't eat puppy food and I suspect he's harboring the soul of a French chef. But he loves this food. He does like salmon (sometimes I steam up some salmon and give the dogs a treat.). And he was very impressed with this food. He cleared his bowl of kibble and went after the other dog's (naughty) and normally he only picks away at kibble during the day. Poodles can tend to have sensitive skin (single coat, no undercoat) and they also can be sensitive to chicken. Salmon and rice is a very good combination and he's doing very well on Pro Plan Lamb. This variety of kibble has him interested in his food and it's made of good ingredients. The kibble is the right size for him (he's a 65lb dog) and it's formed of triangular-shaped kibble that are uniform in appearance. He seems to have no problem with digestion. He's a very healthy boy and since changing dog food can be a bit tricky with poodle tummies, I'm going to keep him on this as long as his health is maintained at a good level. The bag is a bit heavy for me, so I put it in a storage bin to keep it fresher and allow me to scoop out his dinner more easily.
