Classic case for a classic rifle
Ordered this for a Winchester Model 70 featherweight (22") with Leupold VX3. Great fit. Boyt is consistent, stitching is strong and material is sturdy as heck. Classic color and style.Complaint would be the zipper; it's clunky and rough, like what we expected in the 70s or 80. These days, modern YKK zippers should be the norm on a product at this price point. With frequent use and some lubricant (touch of Ballistol) the zipper has improved but it is still the weakest link of this product, and detracts from the "user experience" when casing or uncasing my beautiful rifle from what is otherwise a very nice case. I want that zipper to operate as smooth as butter, just like the bolt action. The exterior pocket fits two boxes of rifle ammunition nicely, or one box and a Kestrel or range finder.

I bought a Boyt last year for my shotgun - the Alaskan model. Quality, appearance, and utility all topnotch. The Signature series is nearly identical, with a couple of upgraded features and a price tag about 20 bucks higher. The interior and exterior specs are the same for both models - heavy canvas, excellent stitching, and massive brass zipper w/double pulls. Generous loft, and soft flannel lining protects the gun and scope well.Like the Alaskan, I found the zipper on this model snaggy at first, but some Teflon oil smoothed it out. The zipper on my Alaskan has become smoother with use after it was lubed, so I wouldn't call this a defect. What you get for the extra $$$:First, the harness-grade leather backstrap and carry sling. Looks great, and about as indestructable as you can get. You have to see it for yourself to really appreciate this detail. To be fair, the heavy canvas strap on the Alaskan model is nearly as tough, and easier to adjust. Either model has a strap that's built to last, so it's a matter of taste and budget which one you choose. The side pocket on the Signature model is a significant upgrade from the Alaskan. The accordian pocket roughly doubles the useable space, a nice feature during hunting season. Both models have a wide velcro closure that secures the flap tightly. Only concern I have is how well the velcro will stick after a few years of use. A snap or zipper would be preferable, but that's a moot point if the velcro holds up.My rifle measures 39.5" heel-to-tip, so I got the 40" size. There's about 1.5" of headroom, so I'd say any gun under 42" will fit. Plenty of room for a 4-12 X 42 scope or larger. Unscoped, it still secures the gun nicely. If you're planning to add a scope later, this case will work fine in the interim.I'd like to see the leather muzzle cap extended another 2" or so, and a buttstock pocket would also be nice - but those are minor points. Otherwise good fit, tough construction, and excellent protection make this case a five-star value. Not to mention that it looks so dang good!

Classic style, needs a better zipper
I really like the style of this case. It feels classic and timeless. Pairs great with a classic rifle. Most of the materials seem to be pretty good quality. Waxed canvas outside with polyester inside. I’ve owned quite a few waxed canvas items and I would say if it really is waxed, it’s very lightly waxed. The zipper sucks. Everything about this case is old fashioned. Unfortunately, that includes the zipper. They could really do with an upgrade to a nice YKK zipper. I’ve used zipper lubricant and it helps slightly. The strap is a little strange. I can’t seem to figure out the point of making it adjustable like it is. Would be a lot better if it just had a separate fix strap and handle. I can’t tell if the leather is full grain, feels harder than i’m used to, but might have a coating on it that will break in.While I do like this case, it feels like they lowered the quality of some things without lowering the price. Seems more like a $60 version of a $120 case.

The best soft carry case I own!
The Boyt Harness Signature Series case had the one specific feature I required, which is a shoulder strap. Every other case had just a handle. The case is specifically for my Ruger 10/22 scoped rifle. The fit is just right, with just under two inches to spare towards the butt-end of the stock. The quality and structure of this bag is the best that I own. The overall price is high, but you do get a superb quality case. Spend the extra money; you won't be disappointed! FYI: The case also fits my Ruger Mini 14 rifle.

Good Quality, Well Made Case
I own 4 of the Boyt soft cases. I Love them. I have not experienced any of the zipper issues or fit issues that have been discussed here. They are well made and I like the durability of the material. Much better than that cheap synthetic crap sold at wally world. I plan on buying one more for a shotgun. Once that is done all my long guns will be riding in Boyt Cases. I wish they were made in the U.S., but thanks to the American consumer's hunger for cheap goods as well as the litigious nature of this country we've managed to put a lot of manufacturers out of business or forced them to move to countries where lawsuits don't run rampant. I personally support all of my locally owned businesses and specificlly look for American made goods when shopping. I don't mind paying premium prices for USA made products. I avoid Big Chain Stores like the plague. So for those who've complained, if you habitually shop at the big chain discount stores looking for cheap goods made in third world countries by child, slave, or grossly underpaid labor then go find the closest mirror and you'll see a single contributor to the problem staring back at ya!!

Protects my rifle & nicely crafted
This is a quality rifle case and the length I bought fits my rifle perfectly. Nice padding to protect rifle with scope and is made of heavy duty material. Though I would call it a "pack to the range" category case, not a knock around 4-wheelin type case. For that you want a hard case. It looks very nice & I expect it to last a long time.
