Essential skin care reading
I’ve had an in-clinic skin consultation with Dija so when I heard of the book, I had to pre-order the book. I was not disappointed. This book is a manual, cutting through the clutter and misinformation on the internet about skin care (routines and products). It is like having a very comprehensive skin consultation with her in person and if you forget something you can always refer to the book. The pictures included bring the topics to life and I appreciate the product recommendations, some of which she recommended to me and I have been using daily for 2 years, which have improved my skin health. While the book is aimed at providing people of Black descent and heritage (who have been overlooked for yearssss by the beauty industry), the information is very valid and useful for all skin types.

A must have if you want flawless skin
Top notch book with very useful information for all demographics. I am a man and the tips in Chapter 9 blew my mind. As I have had in grown hair issues but this gives a very important tips to avoid in grown hairs. In addition it does give the useful information for kids skin care too and not just women. I especially like the explanation on p34 about the importance of collagen to good skin, I have since then started taking collagen supplements and my skin is now more supple and nice with a better glow! This book is a rare gem in terms of information, graphics, print quality and overall packing, I am extremely happy that we have an author that is an authority in the space that knows their stuff in detail and breaks it down in a simple manner that the layman can understand and apply the information contained therein with ease. World class book and finally black excellence. A big thank you Dija to you and your team God bless :)

I’m so proud and happy to have this book exist! Thank you!
This is a brilliant book that’s breaks down how to understand skin and care for it. I also love that it deals with the history, helping to understand the lack of compassion or lack of positive imagery around dark skin. This book is a proper ally book. I get to love me more!! I also loved the whimsical questions of figuring out what your skin type is, questions it feels like I get asked by sales people without them listening to my answers, just to sell me every product under the sun that I don’t need. Now I know what I’m working with. This is a book that is much needed and will be reference for years to come. It also includes men and children. It’s definitely a must have, buy one to learn for yourself, your children or your good friend. Highly recommended! 😉

Informative and not just for black skin
I love the science based facts and the way Dija busts certain myths about certain products or treatments not being good for for black skin. Very informative and written in a way that you would go back and refer to for guidance! Another skin care bible in my library!

The Perfect Guidebook for Black and Brown Skin
You should get this book. I can't emphasize how grateful I am for it. The author did all of us black and brown skin people a favour by putting this together. Now we have something to help us understand our skin better and choose the right products.

Absolutely fabulous
As a black woman and recently qualified aesthetician, this book is amazing. It is very informative and will definitely aid me with my career as I am so passionate about skin. I am half way through the book and it’s just great, reading about things I haven’t come across before and also reading things I have studied over the last 3 years. Dija is a spectacular woman and an admiration. If I lived in London I would love to work at west room aesthetics and I would most certainly have treatments there as I do not trust many people with my skin. Again, the book is great and I look forward to finishing it.
