Steaked into the ground and then screwed it in. My ground is hard so I used a scre driver as a lever to turn the stake so that it would 'screw' into the ground. Attached the gutters with the chain which allowed to be looped in to reduce flopping around. Review: Frankly, a better-quality product than what I was expecting. Sturdy and anchored the chain just fine. Bought two more for the other chains.

This chain and stake is doing the job of keeping the rain chain implanted into the ground so it doesn't whip around in the wind or in a storm.

The anchor holds the chain securely to the ground. Even with some wind.

We installed this along with our rain chain. Today we have heavy rain with strong winds and our rain chain is staying in place, doing a great job. Without the anchor it would be flying all over the place!
