I have very thin nails that are quite brittle so a base coat is important for me, otherwise nail polish chips within 1-2 days due to how much my nails naturally bend. I used this product before applying normal Essie nail polish, and I think it helped with the longevity of the polish. It's certainly comparable to other base coats available online and at drug stores. This base coat went on very evenly and dried quickly. It looks nice on it's own, too, if you just want to do a clean manicure. I think I will use this product to reinforce my natural nails when I'm growing them out before going to the salon or doing a manicure on myself. Good product overall!
