Can this be used instead of individual starter shingles? I wud think expansion slots wud be needed between starter shingles.

Notice the name, " shingle STARTER". this takes the place of a starter row. I have used this product successfully.

Could I use this instead of shingles for a small project.

Maybe for a bird house or small dog house. Same material as shingles plus no seams if you don’t cut it. It just wouldn’t be cost effective for anything much larger.

Can i use it for a damaged roof shingle repair

It's made to be the bottomlayer on the ends an bottom of the roof. Would it work for a small repair it should if put on in the right position.

Will this be sufficient by itself for a doghouse roof?

Regular 3 tab shingles will be cheaper.. starters are usually more expensive
